More on real-life situations by Jeffrey Dahmer
Dahmer – The Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer is based on true events involving Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer in Milwaukee, including murder, child sex offenders, and cannibalism. Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was responsible for the deaths of at least 17 men and boys in Wisconsin and Ohio. His grasping technique involved contacting men and young men who were mostly alone on the street and inviting them to his apartment for a drink. Dahmer would make them exercise, make them drink, and kill them.
The remains of the victims were either discarded after he mutilated them or Dahmer devoured them. He would also photograph his victims and preserve parts of their skeletons. Dahmer said in a 1993 Journal Times article that it was his method of “remembering their attractiveness, their physical beauty.” He declared:
“If I can’t keep them intact, then at least I can keep their bones.”
On February 17, 1992, Dahmer was found guilty of 15 of the 16 murders he committed in Wisconsin and sentenced to 15 life sentences. He was later sentenced to life in prison for the sixteenth time for another crime that occurred in Ohio in 1978. Dahmer suffered from borderline personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and psychosis, in number of other diagnoses.
Dahmer remains the subject of attention in popular culture because of his brutal methods of killing his victims. Dahmer has appeared in films and television shows since being murdered by a fellow inmate in 1994, including Dahmer (2002) starring Jeremy Renner, My Friend Dahmer (2017) and an episode of American Horror Story.
