The arrest comes nearly four months after detectives continued to investigate the stabbing of the 27-year-old. The social media influencer, also known as Coutney Tailor, was arrested in Hawaii on Wednesday. She is currently awaiting extradition to Florida, where she will face second-degree murder charges for her lover’s death in April. Due to post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse, the model was first admitted to a treatment clinic in Hawaii. However, her lawyer reports that she has now been detained by the authorities.

Frank Prieto, her defense attorney, expressed distrust of her detention and stated:
“I was surprised, especially since we supported the investigation and promised to hand her over freely if she was charged.” We are delighted to have her name cleared in court.

Around 5pm on April 3, 2022, police are said to have received a panic contact from an Instagram model. She told authorities she was confronting Obumseli when he suddenly grabbed her by the neck, causing her to stab him in self-defense. When officers arrived at the home, they found the man covered in blood and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The bloody Courtney Clenney building in Miami is also seen on video. The couple had been together for about two years and had separated at the time of the heinous crime. They lived together for months in an apartment complex, where employees witnessed numerous domestic violence incidents and even tried to evict them from their homes. Relatives and friends of Obumseli reprimanded the police for not charging Courtney Clenney sooner. Larry Handfield, the attorney for the Obumseli family, said:
“All the family wants is responsibility.” That’s all the family wanted. Courtney insists it was self-defense and that they believed her so there was no need to investigate. The investigator made his conclusion less than 24 hours after arriving at the scene. That is very wrong and should never have happened.”
At the time of writing, there is no further information about Clenney’s arrest. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office said in a press release that more information on the murder investigation will be released on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. KST.
