Christian Eriksen is a well-known professional football player from Denmark. Moreover, Christian Eriksen plays as a Midfielder position for  Premier League club Manchester United and the Denmark national team.

Early Life

On the 14th of February 1992, in Middelfart, Denmark, Christian Eriksen came to the world. As of 2022, he is 30 years old and holds Danish nationality. His birth name is Christian Dannemann Eriksen. In addition, he has a zodiac sign of Aquarius and has his belief in Christianity.

Talking about his parents, he is the son of Thomas Eriksen (father) and Dorthe Eriksen (mother). He has a sister whose name is Louise Eriksen, who is also a football player who currently captains the Elitedivisionen club Kolding IF. From an age of three, Christian began playing football.

Professional Career

Coming toward his professional career, he started playing football in the academy of the local side, Middelfart G&BK in 1995. Moreover, his father was also one of the coaches at the time and in 2004 they helped the youth side finish unbeaten in the local youth championship for the third time in a period of four years.

Later, he joined Odense Boldklub in 2005 and led the club to an age-group title. This player began taking part in Danish youth championships. During his debut season, he performed quite well, though his team was beaten in the semifinals.

Ajax

This footballer signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Amsterdam-based club, Ajax in October 2008. With the transfer fee received by OB was estimated at €1 million (£847,199) while Middelfart also received a sum of €35 000 which they later used to construct a football pitch.

Playing through the youth teams at Ajax, he was later promoted to the first-team squad in January 2010, where he was given the number 51 shirt. He made his debut for the club in a draw match against 1–1 Eredivisie with NAC Breda, in February 2010.

He scored his debut goal for his team on  25 March in a 6–0 win over Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Cup and extended his contract with the club the following month. At the end of his first professional season with the club, he had played 21 competitive matches, scoring one goal.

Tottenham Hotspur

Eriksen signed with the English club Tottenham Hotspur in August 2013 with a transfer fee reported to be around € 12.45 million. For the club, he made his league debut against Norwich City on 14 September and provided an assist for Gylfi Sigurðsson in a 2–0 victory.

Five days later, he scored his first goal for the club against Tromsø IL in the Europa League with a 3-0 win. He renewed the contract with the club for the long term from 2016 to 2020.

During that time, he broke almost all records scored by previous Danish players in the premier league. During his tenure with the club, spending seven years with the club, he did not win any trophies with the club.

Inter Milan

In January 2020, he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Serie A club Inter Milan. From the club, he would earn 10 million per season. He made his debut for the club, as a second-half substitute for Alexis Sánchez in a 2–1 home win over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

On the 20th of February 2020, he scored his debut goal for the club netting the opener in a 2–0 away victory over Ludogorets Razgrad in the Europa League. In his first season for the club, he struggled to fit in the club and was added to the transfer list.

Despite this, his performance in the 2020-21 season confirmed his stay on the club. The Inter Milan club went on to win the Serie A title ending Juventus’s 9-year run of consecutive titles. After 11 years, it was Milan’s first Serie A title.

Brentford

Eriksen signed for Premier League club Brentford on the 31st of January 2002 on a six-month contract. On the 26th of February 2022, he made his first appearance for the club as a substitute in a 2–0 defeat to Newcastle United – he replaced Mathias Jensen.

Similarly, he scored his first goal for the team in the Premier League in a 4–1 away win against West London rivals Chelsea on 2 April, helping the Bees secure their first victory over Chelsea since 1939.

Manchester United

Eriksen signed a three-year contract with English club Manchester United on the 15th of July 2022. It was confirmed on the 28th of July 2022 that, he would wear the number 14 shirt.

He made his debut for the club in a 2-1 home loss against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on the 7th of August 2022. Similarly, he made his first assist for the club in a 3–1 home league victory over rivals Arsenal when he assisted Marcus Rashford’s second goal.

International Career

He has represented his country Denmark at several age levels. For U17, U18, U19, U21, and the senior teams, he has represented his country. He was called up to the senior team in February 2010.

And, he made his debut in Denmark’s friendly match against Austria in March and became Denmark’s fourth youngest full international, being the youngest debutant since Michael Laudrup.

Similarly, he scored his first senior international goal in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Iceland. And, becoming the youngest Danish international ever to score a goal in European qualifiers. In addition, he played for the Denmark team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where the team reached the Round of 16.

He was included in Denmark’s team for UEFA Euro 2020 in May 2021. He collapsed in the 42nd minute of Denmark’s opening UEFA Euro 2020 group stage match against Finland on the 12th of June 2021.

After that, the urgent medical assistant performed CPR on Eriksen on the football ground which saved his life. Later, he was stretchered and rushed to the hospital. After this incident, the match was suspended and later played where Denmark lost 0-1.

He returned to international football on 26 March 2022, coming on at half-time in a 4–2 loss against the Netherlands, scoring two minutes into his return.
