Chloe Bailey on Swarm

Screen Rant: As a pop star, I’m sure you’re familiar with fan prominence and hysteria. What is it about? group With this method? Does it make it scarier?

Chloe Bailey: Well, I need stans, and so does my sister. People who ride or die, fight for us, protect us, buy albums and the like. I wouldn’t be here without them.

I think what’s special about this show is when people actually see it on the surface, what it looks like. But it’s really a show about mental health, the story of a sister and what happens when one doesn’t have the other; She tries her best to honor her sister, protect her and fight for her. That’s the real content of the show and that’s what really appealed to me. Because mental health is serious business and it’s real. We all speak differently, and so does Dre. [in an] Fun, crazy way. But her heart is good.

Some have suggested that Ni’Jah was partly inspired by Beyoncé, and of course, you also know Beyoncé. Have you talked to her about the show?

Chloe Bailey: You’ll have to ask the Queen.

[Laughs] Tell me how to do it, I would love to.

Chloe Bailey: Can you imagine [laughs].

I love the journey that Dre goes on, but like you said, it’s too unexpected. I went into the program completely blindly. When you get the script, how do you see how Dre handles things in some surprising ways?

Chloe Bailey: Well, when I first got the invitation to meet Donald [Glover]casting director [said to] clock piano teacher and refresh Atlanta. i have always loved Atlanta; I just think it’s genius and cleverly written. And I’ve never seen piano teacher, so I don’t really have any expectations about its contents. I just thought it was a French movie about a piano teacher. I was wrong.

It has become one of my favorite movies. This is the most interesting psychological drama [film], it will take you on a roller coaster ride. When I watched that movie before my meeting with Donald, I thought, “So, what is this movie about?” Because I didn’t even get the script. I just watched “Untitled The Donald Glover Project” and I love him. He’s smart and cute [Nabers] smart. Even Malia Obama is part writer? It was these incredible black women who were part of it.

no mention of dom [Fishback]. She killed the character, no pun intended. But she has to work differently, she has to put her heart and soul into bringing us this show, and it’s a lot harder than people think. Because when you play such a vulnerable character, you are putting yourself in that character. I’m so proud to be a part of this with such an amazing cast.

I can not believe it piano teacher is an influence. Without spoilers, how can you tease Marisa’s character for the rest of the season?

Chloe Bailey: What I can tease about the character of Marissa is that she’s the light at the end of this very, very dark tunnel. There are also things I can poke around, and I’m happy to do that without breaking the fourth wall and making it weird, [is that] Music is an important part of the storytelling and soundtrack. I love that through these episodes you can even hear the voices of Donald and many of my Grammy award-winning musician friends. They are part of the music of this show.

Donald invited me to the studio before I put together my watchlist Fragments. He heard that 30 [or] 40 songs, I’m both excited and nervous, honored to have your opinion. To know he’s like, “I want to hear all you make. I want to hear the weird; play it for me.” Being able to find a song is definitely a boost; I wrote this beat on my Friends Metro Boomin’ [wrote]. Shout out to him. He is incredible and inspiring for me as a producer.

It’s crazy rhythm, he has the infamous 808, and having a live orchestra playing it makes me feel so haunted. It inspired me to write lyrics that I wouldn’t normally say [about] how do i feel. That was a year and a half ago. It’s disgusting to know it was the perfect button in the first episode and listen to it for so long.
