Chhaya has an elder sister named Pooja Tandon and non-biological siblings named Rasha Thadani and Ranbir Thadani. In 1995, Chhaya and Pooja were adopted by Raveena Tandon. In an interview, Raveena talked about the unusual behavior of the parents towards Chhaya and Pooja, in which she decided to adopt the girls and give them a better life. He said,
When my cousin died he left behind two young daughters, Chhaya and Pooja. I didn’t like the way their parents were treating them so I brought them home with me. I didn’t think much about it. It came naturally to me. I wanted to give girls the life they deserved. I’m not a billionaire but I do what I can to help.”
