Fantasia Barrino, who plays Celie in the film, sings the 11 o’clock number at the end of the film.
This is not the first time Fantasia has played the role of Celie. She played the iconic character in the Broadway production of The Color Purple in 2007 and is now returning to the role nearly 16 years later.
The color Purple, based on Alice Walker’s classic novel and Steven Spielberg’s beloved film, is a decades-spanning story about one woman’s journey toward independence. Celie faces many hardships in her life, but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.
