Weeks after Kris Jenner announced the shocking death of her younger sister Karen Houghton, the cause of death was revealed.
According to the death certificate obtained by TMZ, Houghton died of cardiac arrest and a sudden cardiac arrhythmia. Type 2 diabetes is also listed as a secondary underlying cause.
The documents further noted that Kris Jenner’s younger brother had bipolar disorder. She was cremated days after her death on March 19. She was 65 years old at the time of her death.
The news outlet further reported that fire and rescue officials attempted life-saving measures for Houghton at his home in San Marcos, CA. Unfortunately, they were unable to resuscitate her.
Jenner had written a special tribute to Houghton, describing her as the sweetest, kindest and most sensitive person, “vulnerable and so much fun.”
“She was always grateful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter,” Jenner added. “She has such a big part of my heart and I treasure every memory we have together.”

Sources close to Kris Jenner told TMZ that the reality TV star was “extremely upset” over the loss of her sister. The siblings had ups and downs over the years, including Houghton claiming in 2014 that her older sister’s TV fame had changed her.
Houghton told RadarOnline that Kris Jenner was not supportive of her family, despite her fame and success. “I think she could do a lot more for her family,” Karen said at the time. “My mom could have anything she wanted, considering I had three Bentley cars, Mercedes and clothing lines.”
Houghton admitted that her sister had bought her a Mercedes, so she did “something” for her. “But when you express a loving family and family values and a close-knit family and my moms live in La Jolla, buy her a condo, Kris!” she declared. “I dont understand her. I will never do it. It’s just her personality.”
Houghton also criticized Kris Jenner’s relationship with her ex-husband Bruce (who is now Caitlyn Jenner). She blamed her older sister for the breakup.
“Bruce is gone,” Houghton said. “He abandoned her and I don’t think she will come back. He can’t stand the screaming anymore. I think she now has problems because Bruce left her. Kris is alone, she is not dating. “She’s not the type to run around.”
