Lewis Hamilton is a Formula 1 driver who currently drives for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team. Hamilton currently owns six drivers’ world championship titles and it seems likely that he will increase his tally as he currently leads the championship standings. Another title victory would see him equal Michael Schumacher’s record of seven world titles.
Hamilton began his career at McLaren, nearly winning the world title during his rookie season. A late-round pass in his sophomore season sealed his first and perhaps his most dramatic victory. He joined Mercedes in 2013, with whom he has won five titles.

Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985 in Stevenage, England, the son of Anthony Hamilton and Carmen Larbalestier. Anthony is black while Carmen is white, making Lewis a mixed race, but self-identifying as black.
After his parents separated when he was 2 years old, Lewis lived with his mother and half-sisters until he was 12 years old. He then moved in with his father, his stepmother Linda, and his half-brother Nicholas. By then Lewis had established himself as a future Formula One driver and was steadily climbing the racing ladder.
