Caroline Garcia’s parents: Her strong relationship with her parents

Caroline Garcia’s brilliant form has seen her reach her first Grand Slam semifinal. Since the Cincinnati Open, Garcia has won thirteen straight matches; two more wins will see her crowned women’s champion at the 2022 US Open. Garcia broke the hearts of the home fans when she defeated Coco Gauff in straight sets to set up a semifinal match against Ons Jabeur, who is also in excellent form.

Success at the Grand Slams has eluded Garcia, who, despite his undoubted talent, battled his way to the quarterfinals.

Garcia’s father, Louis Paul Garcia, appreciated the significance of his quarterfinal win by taking up dancing, which has made him trending on social media.

Caroline Garcia’s father resigned as coach and joined her management team

Caroline Garcia was born on October 16, 1993 to Louis Paul and Mary Lene Garcia in Lyon, France.

Louis Paul coached Garcia through the junior ranks and stepped down in 2021 to join his management team. Garcia said her new team, made up of coach Bertrand Perret, her physical therapist and her father, is bringing out the best in her.

García’s performances and results have improved, vindicating the decision to change coaches. Louis Paul said Sport 360 in 2018 that being Caroline’s father and coach was rewarding but challenging. He said:

“It is not easy because I want to be a good father, I do the best I can (laughs) but it is not easy to be a father, being a mother is also difficult. It’s really to develop her, to give her every opportunity for the hereafter after us because this always happens.”

Garcia’s father told the publication that he never pushed her to succeed in the sport. He said the duo focused on the journey rather than the destination. Louis Paul explained:

“That is what is also happening with Caroline, we are close but we are far. That’s why we want to enjoy the route, the ‘chemin’ (path), more than the goals”.

“The goals are going to happen because we are on the road, that’s how we try to work. I think it’s the right path because if you only focus on the goals, the frustration can come too quickly.”

Garcia has the support and advice of his parents.

Caroline’s parents often travel with her to tournaments to provide support and encouragement. She said Sport 360 who turns to them for advice on all issues:

“But my parents are also sometimes the people with whom I share the most. They help me stay in the present and understand what’s going on and it’s part of being normal.”
