Monty underwent surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shortly after birth because he had transposition of the great arteries (TGA), a disease in which important heart arteries are rotated to one side. When Monty was born, he needed a breathing tube and an oxygen tube because he had trouble breathing and eating.

Lee herself went through a difficult birth. Her placenta previa, a disease in which the cervix is ​​covered by the placenta and leads to internal bleeding, has affected her. In the end, she needed a cesarean section and a blood transfusion. During the ordeal, she briefly lost consciousness.

My blood pressure dropped to the floor and I lost a lot of blood. “I had a panic attack after being told Monty was unwell when I woke up,” Lee said.

Fortunately, Monty’s procedure went well. He was brought home 9 days after giving birth and has thrived since, along with his brother Hudson, 8, Lee Harmon’s husband, Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Harmon, and the family dog ​​Pancakes.

His intentions are good. “We’re currently experiencing typical infant problems, such as crying a lot and waking up in the middle of the night,” added Lee.

Lee has experienced a steady but challenging comeback. After giving birth to Monty, her husband enlisted in the army and worked up to 19 hours a day. Most of the time, Lee looks after her two children alone while her body recovers from the stress. I have a great network of friends, but if I could go back in time, Lee said, “I’d get more help.” However, Lee was able to take a six-month hiatus before joining NBC News, which was a big help.
