The taxi driver who drove Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during a car chase breaks the silence and gives his perspective on what happened

The taxi driver who briefly drove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle) during their “near catastrophic chase” has been identified and is now speaking about what happened while they were in his yellow cab.

Sukhcharn Singh, 37, picked up Meghan, Harry and their mother Doria Ragland sometime on Tuesday (May 16), after attending the Ms. Women of Vision Foundation Awards 2023, where the Duchess was awarded one of the Women of Vision Awards. The driver spoke to the Washington Post in an interview about what happened that night.

For some background, here’s the statement a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared. Variety“Last night [Tuesday May 16], the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a group of very aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, which lasted for more than two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers. While there is a level of public interest in being a public figure, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”

“The dissemination of these images, given the way in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive and dangerous practice for all involved,” the spokesperson continued.
