participating aircraft
The planes involved in the crash were a charter plane called JM21 and a commercial 737 called Wayfarer 515. Due to Donald’s air traffic control error, the two planes collided mid-air.
After Walter refuses to save the suffocating Jane, she dies, leaving her father, Donald, distraught. At the air traffic control center, he couldn’t concentrate, so he didn’t notice the charter flight JM21 was in the path of the oncoming Wayfarer 515.
Abbreviation JM21
Interestingly, the charter plane’s initials, JM21, resemble the names of Donald’s dead daughter and Jesse’s mistress, Jane Margolis. Donald is also said to have worked as an air traffic controller for over 20 years, possibly 21 years to be exact. That is why the author chose JM21 as the aircraft name.
At air traffic control, Donald Margolis accidentally reads “Jane Mike 2 1” instead of “Juliet Mike 2 1” before realizing he made a mistake. Both Jane and Mike are characters on the show.
Another Bryan Cranston character caused a plane crash
One of Bryan Cranston’s other famous roles is Hal in the sitcom intermediary. although in a humorous way, the character also causes a plane crash.
In Season 6 of the sitcom “Hal Sleepwalks”, Hal sleepwalks causing two planes flying in the sky to collide. The moment was quickly dismissed as a joke.
Number of victims on both planes
In episode “ABQ” Part 2 it was mentioned that charter flight JM21 has 8 passenger seats. It was also revealed that there were a total of 167 victims on all planes.
Combined with the two pilots of the JM21, this means the plane carries a total of 10 people. And there are no flight attendants on such a small charter flight, which means there are 157 people on the Wayfarer 515 passenger plane. Also assuming that both planes are full.
Walter’s number
When Walter decided to start cooking methamphetamine to make ends meet for his family before he died of cancer, he had a purpose. According to him, $737,000 is enough to send his children to college.
Interestingly, the 737 is also a model of the plane that crashed. It could be just a coincidence, or it could be that producer Vince Gilligan or the scripting team really wanted it to be.
connect with history
There is an interesting connection between Walter White, car accidents and actual historical events. In 1986, Aeromexico Flight 498 (DC-9) finally collided with a Piper Archer aircraft in the Cerritos, California area.
Everyone on board died, just like the Wayfarer crash. Interestingly, the name of the air traffic controller in control of both planes was also Walter White.
walter saves the pink teddy bear’s eye
One of the most iconic items in the collection is the pink teddy bear. It fell from one of the planes in the collision and landed in Walter’s swimming pool. NTSB investigators then placed it in an evidence bag.
Teddy bears appear briefly in several episodes to predict catastrophic events. After NTSB investigators cleared out the items, the humorous Walt continued to attract attention. This was the case when Skyler found the eye while searching Walt’s drawer in episode 4 “Box Cutter”.
Worst Airline Disaster Rating
With 167 people killed, it was the fifth deadliest air disaster on record. That’s according to PlaneCrashInfo.com, a website that records all of the air crashes in history.
With Walt’s involvement in the car crash, he certainly has a place among the most evil TV antiheroes of all time. Little did he realize after the car crash that his actions had caused it. However, some fans of the show believe it’s all Donald’s fault, as he may have been on a break for a while after Jane’s death.
Teddy Bear’s facial wound is similar to Gus Fring’s
Gus Fring’s death is definitely the show’s most memorable. Walt and Hector lure a drug lord into Casa Tranquila, only for Hector to blow himself up. For a moment, the moment Gus walked out of the room, he seemed to be alive. Another photo shows half of his face badly damaged before falling to the ground.
The teddy bear that fell from one of the planes also had similar burns on Gus’ face. In these cases, teddy bears are a harbinger of things to come.
jane’s bedroom
The interior of Jane’s house is only revealed after everything has happened. Before that, she spent most of her time in Jesse’s apartment next door, which seemed orderly.
Unlike Jesse’s apartment, Jane’s is neatly and beautifully decorated. As an artist, she makes sure to place a colorful mural right above the bed. A pink teddy bear can also be seen falling from the sky on the mural. Now that Jane has hung up the picture earlier, this is another harbinger.
