While Greg Papa, the Bay Area’s consistent host, will transition to hosting the Giants live before/after the game starting in the spring, Bonta Hill has been tapped to host the Giants live before/after the game. A San Francisco native, Hill, who will go on to host the hit show The Morning Roast with Bonta, Kate & Joe on Entercom’s 95.7 FM “The Game,” in addition to his new position at NBC Sports Bay Area, is now is San Francisco. Additionally, from 1990 to 2003, Pope worked as a television broadcaster for Oakland A’s for 14 years for various local sports networks in the Bay Area.
In addition to serving as a match broadcaster for the 49ers on KNBR AM 680 “The Sports Leader” and 49ers Radio Network, he currently hosts NBC Sports Bay Area’s 49ers Central: Ask Papa and 49ers Game Plan. During the 2020-2021 NBA season, The Pope will continue to host a number of Warriors pre-/post-match live broadcasts. Giants Pre/Postgame Live was previously hosted by Pope from 2010 to 2016, a period marked by three Giants World Series wins (2010, 2012 and 2014). A three-time “California Sports Journalist of the Year” and San Francisco/Northern California Emmy Award winner, Pope has also worked on multiple national television networks for ABC, NBC, ESPN and Turner Sports. He’s also served as the game-playing voice of the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Raiders.
