Bob Odenkirk’s career

American actor, comedian and director Bob Odenkirk is best known for his role as Saul Goodman in the television series Breaking Bad (2008–2013) and its sequel Better Call Saul (2015–2022) . He received five Primetime Emmy nominations for the latter for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

He has also received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series for producing Better Call Saul since his debut. In addition, he co-created and starred in the HBO comedy series Mr. The Bob and David Show (1995–1998) with comedian David Cross. He and Cross got back together in 2015 on the Netflix series W/Bob & David, starring the entire cast of Mr. Showa.

Odenkirk won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1989 and 1993 for writing episodes of Saturday Night Live (1987–1991) and The Ben Stiller Show (1992). He contributed writing to Late Night with Conan O’Brien from 1993 to 1994 and played Agent Stevie Grant on The Larry Sanders Show from 1993 to 1998.

Tim & Eric, a comedy group, was first introduced in Odenkirk in the early 2000s. Both Tim and Eric Great show, you do well! and Tom Goes to Meet the Mayor (2004–2006) produced by him. Melvin Goes to Dinner (2003), Let’s Go to Jail (2006) and The Solomon Brothers (2007) are among the feature films he directed.

In popular projects such as Nebraska (2013), Fargo’s first season (2014), Hell and Back (2015), Steven Spielberg’s The Post (2017), Pixar’s Superman 2 (2018), Little Women (2019.) and, with the lead role, the action film Nobody (2021) produced by him, the acting work stems from the success of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Odenkirk and Janeane Garofalo, co-authors of Mr. Showa was romantically linked with Bob and David in the early 1990s. Janeane introduced Odenkirk to David Cross. Odenkirk married Naomi Yomtov in 1997; she then worked as executive producer on W/Bob and David. They have two small children.

Odenkirk has admitted that he is colorblind when choosing clothes for Better Call Saul and that he relies on the costume team to choose the right clothes for his role.

On December 15, 2019, SIU, Odenkirk’s alma mater announced that they had awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Performing Arts.

On July 27, 2021, Odenkirk was rushed to Albuquerque hospital after what he claimed was a “minor heart attack” he suffered while filming the sixth season of Better Call Saul. Odenkirk said he would be “back soon” three days later, on July 30, and announced on September 8 that he would return to work.
