Blaze is an Indian rapper, singer, songwriter, composer and music producer. He predominantly sings in Tamil language. He is considered one of the pioneers of the Indian rap scene and played a major role in introducing hip-hop to South India. Some of his famous songs include “The Boss” and “Style” from the movie “Shivaji: The Boss”, “CEO in the House” from the movie “Sarkar”, “Gangsta Blues” from the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. Lakshmi Narasimha Vijaya Rajagopal Sheshadri Sharma Rajesh Raman was born as Blaze on Wednesday, 15 October 1975 (age 46 years; as in 2022) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The name “Vijaya” was added to his name because he was born on the occasion of Vijayadashami. He was born in India but brought up in Kitwe, Zambia. From 1980 to 1983, he went to Luanshya Trust School, Luanshya, Zambia and then he went to Belvedere School in Harare, Zimbabwe. He went to Nkana Trust School, Kitwe, Zambia in 1985. In 1987, he joined Mpelembe Secondary School in Kitwe, Zambia. At the age of 14, he went to England to study GCSE ‘O’ Levels at St. George’s School, a boarding school in Finborough – Suffolk, UK. In 1995, he graduated from St. Xavier’s College with a Diploma in Film and TV Production, Film/Cinema/Video Studies. In 1997, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from Columbia College in Hollywood, United States. His father was an architect who designed stages for various events. When Blaze was 9 years old, he would accompany his family to perform breakdance on a set designed by his father, during which he became more interested in hip-hop and decided to become a rapper.
