Controversy
On 5 May 2023, Punjab Police arrested Kishore after he hit a woman named Gagan with his car in Ludhiana and injured her hand. He was booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt to any person by rash or negligent act endangering human life) and 427 (mischief). - He was granted bail on 10 May 2023. After coming out of jail, he talked about his experience in jail and said that he was asked to use the washroom with the door open. He talked about this in an interview and said,
I was not feeling well so I ate [they gave], The driver and cameraperson also ate a little. I was watering a lot because I was nervous. When I went to the washroom, 2-3 women constables were also with me. There was neither electricity nor water in the police station [I was kept in], I was allowed to use the toilet in the hospital where there were blood soaked clothes. I felt like I was going to vomit. I saw the dead bodies in the hospital late at night. If I think about it I feel the same way again.
