Controversy
On 5 May 2023, Punjab Police arrested Kishore after he hit a woman named Gagan with his car in Ludhiana and injured her hand. He was booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt to any person by rash or negligent act endangering human life) and 427 (mischief). A case was registered under. Indian Penal Code or causes loss or damage). On 6 May 2023, he was granted interim bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. On 7 May 2023, the duty magistrate ordered the Superintendent of Central Jail Ludhiana to release him after he signed the bail bond. Following their release, their organisation, Times Now Navbharat, said that Kishore, cameraman Mrityunjay and a driver were arrested by the Ludhiana Police on charges of rash driving and insulting Dalits. The organization also claimed that she was arrested by male police personnel in a car and was denied legal and telephone access and was arrested after sunset. According to the channel, he was invited to cover the AAP political event organized by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwat Mann in Ludhiana. He claimed that the group of women were “inspired AAP activists”. On May 10, 2023, the bench of Justice AG Masih of the High Court granted him bail. The AAP government denied the allegations and said there was no political motive behind filing the police case against him.

- In May 2023, when he was arrested by the Punjab Police for hitting a woman with his car and passing derogatory remarks at her, the action taken by the police was condemned by many journalists. The FIR lodged against him at the Ludhiana police station “appears to have been made in excessive and undue haste,” the Editors Guild said in a statement.
- Commenting on the incident, AAP leader Atishi said that no one is above the law and the police and the matter should be left in the hands of the court.
- Chandigarh Press Club also released a statement about the incident and said that there was no woman constable there when she was arrested and she was not allowed to inform her family about it. The statement further said,
If a person is hit by a car, under which law are the passengers booked? How would anyone know the caste of the complainant if he is using derogatory language against their caste? Who among these three used such language to be special?”
- He was granted bail on 10 May 2023. After coming out of jail, he talked about his experience in jail and said that he was asked to use the washroom with the door open. He talked about this in an interview and said,
I was not feeling well so I ate [they gave], The driver and cameraperson also ate a little. I was watering a lot because I was nervous. When I went to the washroom, 2-3 women constables were also with me. There was neither electricity nor water in the police station [I was kept in], I was allowed to use the toilet in the hospital where there were blood soaked clothes. I felt like I was going to vomit. I saw the dead bodies in the hospital late at night. If I think about it I feel the same way again.
