Bhagwani Devi told in an interview that she started her athletic career in the beginning of 2022. He further said that he started practicing with the help of his grandson Vikas Dagar. In the same year Bhagwani Devi participated in the Delhi State Masters Athletics Meet. In the competition, she managed to achieve three gold medals in 100 meters race, javelin throw and shoot put.
In May 2022, while participating in the 42nd National Masters Athletics Championships in Chennai, he once again won three gold medals in 100 m sprint, shot put and javelin throw. Following her consistent victories on the field, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) selected Bhagwani Devi as one of the athletes to represent India at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Finland.
Bhagwani Devi participated in the athletic competition held in Tampere, Finland from 29 June 2022 to 10 July 2022. In the competition, she managed to secure a gold medal in the 100 meter sprint race and two bronze medals in shot put and javelin throw. She was successful in completing her 100 meter sprint race in 24.74 seconds.

While giving an interview, Vikas Dagar said that Bhagwani Devi will participate in the World Masters Indoor Athletics Championship 2023 to be held in Torun, Poland.

- After returning to India from Finland, Bhagwani Devi said in an interview that her age never came in the way of her and she would like to win more medals for the country by representing India in such athletic championships.
- In an interview with Aaj Tak, her grandson claimed that he had no idea that his grandmother was interested in sports, until one night when he asked her to give him his shot put, which he used to practice with. Vikas told the media in the interview,
One night my grandmother asked me for my shot put. When I gave him the ball, he did not show any promising performance, perhaps it was due to the darkness. But in the morning he woke me up and once again asked for the ball. That’s when I came to know about his interest in sports. After this, I started preparing him by taking him on the field for practice.”
