Ben Affleck is very interested in Wordle. In fact, he is so serious that he plays something he calls “Octordle.”
During an interview with THRBen explained that he had been hit hard by a case of COVID-19.
He told the magazine: “I’d had it a couple of times and I was asymptomatic, so I got a little cocky and a little bit like, ‘Wow, COVID doesn’t really affect me.’ I’m one of those people.’ And then I was just wiped out. I had COVID out of power, where it was too much work to pick up the phone to play Octordle.”
When asked what “Octordle” is, he replied: “Octordle. It’s just Wordle with more words. Don’t be impressed, it’s not more difficult. “I was invited to join a cool little Wordle group of red velvet roped celebrities.”
He explained: “Actually, Wordle’s first rule is not to talk about Wordle. Unless you get it in three tries. I used to do crosswords compulsively in the mornings and I think I’m good at word games. And let’s face it, taking on actors isn’t a high bar. I expected to do pretty well, so I felt very honored. You have to do Wordle, Quordle and Octordle, and add up your score, and then whoever gets the lowest score wins that day. It is fiercely competitive and there is a lot of mockery and derision. So I’m training.”
