Badrul Islam was born in India to an Islamic family. When he was a child, he watched the blockbuster Bollywood film ‘Sholay’ after which he got attracted towards films and decided to become an actor. He studied from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. While studying in college, he used to participate in street plays during cultural programs. He also went to perform a play in a village in Haryana, where he won the title of Best Actor. Later, he joined Shri Ram Center for Performing Arts in New Delhi and also worked at the National School of Drama in New Delhi.

The same year, he appeared as a news reporter Tillu Mandothiya in the action comedy film ‘An Action Hero’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana.
