Avani Chaturvedi was born on Wednesday, 27 October 1993 (age 29 years; as in 2023) in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Scorpio. She went to Adarsh Higher Secondary School in Devland, Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. In 2014, he received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from Banasthali University, Rajasthan. In college, she became a part of the college flying club and from there she became interested in flying. She gained a few hours of experience in flying when she was in her college flying club. While studying in college, she was one of the core team members of Mayukh, the university’s annual technical fest. He did a 6-month internship as an Associate Software Engineer at Rainosys Technologies Pte Ltd. He has more than 3 years of experience working as a Systems Engineer at IBM. Later, he took the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) examination and passed it. He was also recommended by the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB).

When she was 25, she completed her six-month training in Dundigal, Hyderabad after being selected by the Indian Air Force Academy. In June 2016, she, along with Bhavana Kanth and Mohana Singh, became the first Indian female fighter pilots in the history of the Indian Air Force.

In 2017, he was posted to 23 Squadron Panthers of the Indian Air Force in Suratgarh, Rajasthan. On 19 February 2018, she became the first woman fighter pilot to fly solo in a MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft. Later, he was promoted to the rank of flight lieutenant. He made a half-hour solo flight in the Russian-origin jet in the skies of Jamnagar Air Base.
In an interview, Air Force spokesperson Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee talked about Avni becoming the first woman fighter pilot to fly the MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft and said,
This is a major milestone in the training of fighter pilots and the first time an Indian woman has flown a fighter aircraft solo. This reflects the Indian Air Force’s enduring commitment towards ‘Women Power’.
In January 2023, it was revealed that Squadron Leader Avani Chaturvedi was going to participate in the first air combat exercise between India and Japan Air Forces named Veer Guardian 2023. She is the first Indian woman fighter pilot to participate in air combat. He flew the Sukhoi-30MKI jet in the aerial combat program held at Hyakuri Air Base, Japan from 12 January 2023 to 26 January 2023.

- He was trained at the Indian Air Force Academy in Telangana along with 43 other male batch mates. In an interview, when asked about being one of the first women to receive fighter pilot training, she shared how her male counterparts reacted to her presence, replying,
The first day, I think it was all new to them, as it was to me. I have a very good relationship with all my classmates. Every flight, every landing and every take-off is different. There are days when you will have a bad flight and you will feel bad about it. These days, when I go back and talk to a classmate, I realize that, oh, the same thing happened to him a few days ago. That’s when I realize I’m not alone and it’s human to make mistakes.”
