Latest news about Mata Ishbia

Following an incident with Phoenix Suns owner Mata Ishbia, Denver Nuggets All-Star center Nikola Jokic was judged to be technically fouled in the second half of Game 4 on Sunday. Suns guard Josh Okogie crashed into the stands late in the second half trying to save a loose ball. He fell among a crowd of fans on the backstreets, including Ishbia, who took the basketball.

When Jokic tried to steal the ball from Ishbia, it was clear that he was trying to get the ball back quickly for the Nuggets to start attacking. The ball bounced off the audience and Ishbia elbowed Jokić.

Jokić showed no remorse after the Suns’ 129-124 victory. Jokić explained that fans were the first to lay hands on me. “I think it’s the league’s job to protect us.” Maybe I’m wrong. I recognize him, but he’s a fan. Is not it?

Nuggets coach Michael Malone said: “(Jokic) will receive the ball and some fans are holding the ball as if he wants to be a part of the game. Just pass the ball, kid.”

After a few minutes of confusion, while the referees tried to understand what was going on, Jokić was penalized for a technical foul. The Suns took advantage of the free throw afterwards.

In game 4, Jokic got a technical foul and tried to steal the ball from Suns’ goalie, Ishbia

Game 4 of Sunday’s Nuggets-Suns series featured a tense second-quarter run involving a two-time MVP, club owner and a retired Hall of Fame guard.

Suns guard Josh Okogie fell into the stands while searching for a loose ball out of bounds at 2:36 of the second half. The ball fell into the hands of a fan near the field. Meanwhile, Joki believes it’s his responsibility to pick it up. He did it roughly, pulling the ball towards the fan holding it in his hand.

What about that fan? He is Suns owner Mat Ishbia, who bought the team mid-season from ex-exile owner Robert Saver. After releasing the ball, Joki shoved straight into Ishbia’s chest, causing the owner of Suns to return to his seat. In the video below, Ishbia wears a green jacket:
