Aslam Mustafa Inamdar started his career by playing Kabaddi at the local level and earned money through cash prizes. He then played his first sub-junior nationals for Maharashtra, after which he decided to move to a more prominent club, Jai Bajrang in Vasind city of Thane, on the advice of his seniors. At Jai Bajrang, he improved his skills and techniques and got the opportunity to work in Kabaddi with Union Bank and Air India. In an interview, while talking about how he progressed after joining Jai Bajrang Club, he said,
After that my life changed. I started playing good level tournaments and that’s where people noticed me.”
In 2018, Aslam Inamdar qualified to join Yuva Paltan, the youth academy of the Puneri Paltan team and he spent three years there before making a breakthrough in 2021 after being selected to play in the Pro Kabaddi League. He played in various state-level tournaments and led the youth platoon to victory.
In 2021, Aslam Mustafa Inamdar made his debut in the Pro Kabaddi League as an all-rounder member of the Puneri Paltan team. He scored a total of 189 points for his team in his first season and became the highest raid points scorer for the Puneri Paltan team in the league matches of the eighth season of Pro Kabaddi League. In July 2022, he was a member of the silver medal-winning Maharashtra team at the 69th Senior National Men’s Kabaddi Championship. In the same year, he represented the Maharashtra team that won the silver medal in the 36th National Games held in Gujarat. In 2022, he was retained for Rs 20 lakh for the ninth season of the Pro Kabaddi League, in which he scored a total of 150 points for the team with a strike rate of 51% and a tackle strike rate of 35%. In October 2023, he made his Asian Games debut as a member of the Indian Kabaddi team, which won the gold medal in Hangzhou, China. The team won the final of the 19th Asian Games by defeating Iran in a thrilling match with a score of 33-29.
In 2023, he was once again retained by the Puneri Paltan team to play as an all-rounder and also captained Puneri Paltan in the tenth season of the Pro Kabaddi League.

- Aslam Mustafa Inamdar worked at a tea shop before playing Kabaddi professionally. He comes from a lower-middle-class family and helped his family escape poverty after achieving success as a Kabaddi player.
- In 2014, he suffered an injury while playing in the Sub-Junior National Kabaddi Championship, injuring both the tibia and fibula bones of his right leg. He had to undergo surgery on his bones but he did not have enough money to do so. Three months later, a government scheme helped him get the operation done at a cheaper rate.
- His elder brother, Wasim, did not want him to play Kabaddi and concentrated on his studies, but Aslam practiced Kabaddi secretly and eventually managed to gain his brother’s support. Talking about his brother in an interview, he said,
Wasim was against it, so whenever he was not on the field, I would go and play. I would see him from a distance and run to the other side, jump the wall and go home. But finally he came to know when the seniors told him how good a player I was.
