Ashish Sakharkar was born on Sunday, 18 November 1979 (age 43 at the time of death) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign was Scorpio. He did his schooling from Hill Grange High School, Mumbai. He later earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. He became fond of bodybuilding while studying in college. He has passed CA (Chartered Accountant) Level 1 exam; However, he pursued his career in bodybuilding and did not pursue CA.

He began competing in bodybuilding in 1999 when he participated in a local amateur YMCA event. He had only been exercising for six months at the time; However, he won the gold medal in the men’s novice category. This victory inspired him to dedicate himself more towards bodybuilding. He won the title of Mr. Maharashtra and later won Mr. India (Federation Cup) four times.
He later won a gold medal at the IFBB European Championship, a silver medal at the IFBB Mr. Asia Championship, a silver and bronze medal at the IFBB Mr. Universe Championship, and finished 7th at the Amateur Mr. Olympia Championship. He has participated in most bodybuilding competitions in the 80 kg weight category. He competed in the 2013 Sheru Classic; However, he failed to win any medals.
Diet
While preparing for a bodybuilding competition in 2011, he revealed that his daily diet consisted of 50 eggs, 1 kg of chicken, 1 kg of fish and half a kg of dry fruits. He added that he divided his diet into four portions throughout the day to keep up with his nutritional demands.

He preferred to workout twice every day, which included one workout in the morning and one in the evening. He mostly exercised using free weights with barbells and dumbbells. He also collaborated with various famous IFBB bodybuilders during his training.

Death
Ashish Sakharkar passed away on 19 July 2023 after battling illness for a week. A week before his death, he was admitted to a hospital in South Mumbai after complaining of fever and malaise and initially showed signs of improvement during treatment; However, he did not recover and died during treatment.
