livelihood

Aryan Pasha is a practicing lawyer and used to work for Multiple Action Research Group (MARG), an NGO, where he provided legal training to other social workers. He is a proponent of inclusivity and equality and has consistently pressed the government to support all-inclusive sports tournaments – something that is largely lacking in Indian and international events. In 2017, he decided to participate in a bodybuilding competition and started preparing for the bodybuilding event MuscleMania India in the men’s category. Since this was a natural bodybuilding competition, participants were not allowed to take hormone supplements, including testosterone. He informed the organizers that being a trans man he required regular testosterone doses as part of hormone replacement therapy after surgery, and it was decided that he needed to skip only the last dose before the competition. By participating in the MuscleMania competition in 2018, he became the first transman from India to compete in a bodybuilding event in the men’s category and finished second.
