Nearly a year after settling her divorce from Armie Hammer, Elizabeth Chambers is speaking out about the high-profile split.
While appearing on the Freeform documentary series Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, he Uncle’s man The star’s ex revealed she was a victim of the “Cayman Curse,” which has been held responsible for breakups after couples move to Grand Cayman.
“I went through a very public divorce,” Chambers said. “It was plagued with scandals, and the stores were coming out every day, horrible items, and I was learning about them as they happened.”
The Food Network host went on to say that the life she and Armie Hammer planned for years was basically shattered. “That was a really painful period,” she admitted. “Doing that on a more public platform was absolute hell and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
Chambers said she is finally ready to have a “fresh start” after the traumatic experiences she went through during the divorce.
Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers announced their separation in July 2020. Six months after the announcement, Hammer was accused of abusing multiple women. One of the women claimed that Hammer was so emotionally abusive to her during their relationship that she was hospitalized for post-traumatic stress disorder.
After the allegations began, Hammer’s legal team issued a statement to Page six. “These claims about Mr. Hammer are patently false. “Any interaction with this person, or any partner of theirs, was completely consensual in the sense that it was fully discussed, agreed upon, and mutually participatory.”
The divorce between Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers was finalized in June 2023. The former couple shares two children.
Armie Hammer Broke His Silence About Abuse Allegations Last Fall
In the fall of 2023, Armie Hammer opened up to Air Mail about the allegations made about him in January 2021. Although he claimed that all of his sexual encounters were consensual, he admitted to being emotionally abusive. He also said that “the power dynamic” was wrong in his relationships with women in their 20s.
While continuing to speak with the media outlet, Hammer revealed that he was sexually abused by a youth pastor for almost a year when he was 13 years old. Although her parents were aware of the situation, they ignored it.
“What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that was completely out of my control,” Armie Hammer explained.
The actor noted that sexual abuse and feeling helpless as a child made his sexual interests about being in control. “Because being out of control was very dangerous for me,” he continued. “And very uncomfortable.”
However, Armie Hammer denied ever being sexually violent towards others.
