Anupama Upadhyay is an Indian badminton player. Anupama came into limelight after securing the top rank in the junior rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) in September 2022.

Anupama Upadhyay was born on Saturday, 12 February 2005 (age 17 years; as in 2022) in New Delhi, India. Initially, Anupama Upadhyay’s father, Naveen Upadhyay, took her for badminton training at the Yamuna Sports Complex in New Delhi during holidays. Originally from Almora, Uttarakhand, Anupama and her family had visited Almora during her school holidays, where she met coach DK Sen, father of 2021 World Championships bronze medalist Lakshya Sen. After this, Anupama decided to train under coach DK Sen for the following three. By the year, 2018. Later, coach DK Sen moved to Bengaluru, after which Anupama and her mother shifted to Panchkula, Haryana for the next eighteen months, where they lived in a rented apartment. Anupama Upadhyay’s family is from Khanuli (Masi) village of Chaukhutia tehsil of Almora, Uttarakhand.

In 2016, Anupama Upadhyay won her first national level tournament in the under-13 category at the national singles and doubles event in Vijayawada. In 2018, she made her international debut by participating in the Asian Junior Badminton Championships held in Myanmar. Anupama Upadhyay reached the quarter finals in the tournament. In 2019, he participated in the next edition of the Asian Junior Badminton Championships. Anupama reached the quarter finals in the badminton tournament. In the same year, he won the bronze medal at the BAI Under-19 Nationals held in Bengaluru, India. In 2019, she won the Under-15 national singles title in Orissa. I started playing badminton as a leisure activity and didn’t think of playing it professionally until I shifted to Almora to train under DK Sen sir. Whenever Lakshya Sen bhaiya came to Almora, I used to take tips from him also. In 2018, when Sen sir moved to Bengaluru, I moved to Panchkula with my mother for 18 months in a rented house. Reaching the quarterfinals of the Asian Junior Championships in 2019 was an inspiring moment in my career.

In 2020, Anupama shifted to Bengaluru to receive badminton training from the Upadhyaya Prakash Padukone Academy. In 2021, Anupama participated in the Infosys Foundation India Open International Challenge Tournament. He won the gold medal in the tournament.

In 2022, he participated in the Syed Modi International Super 300. Anupama reached the semi-finals in the tournament.
