Anuj Rawat is a professional Indian cricketer. He represented Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020.

Anuj Rawat was born on Sunday, 17 October 1999 (age 21 years; as in 2020) in Rooppur, a small village in Uttarakhand. Due to lack of cricket training facilities around his native village, Anuj moved to Delhi in 2011. He attended Bal Bhawan International School, New Delhi. After a few years, Anuj joined the West Delhi Cricket Academy run by Indian captain Virat Kohli’s coach Rajkumar Sharma and after that he never looked back.

Family

Anuj Rawat was born in a middle class farming family. His father Virendra Pal Singh is a farmer. His brother, Prashant Rawat, is a digital marketer.

livelihood

On 6 October 2017, Anuj Rawat made his first-class cricket debut for Delhi in a 2017–18 Ranji Trophy match against Assam. He scored 71 runs in his first innings. He has played matches for India A and India Under-19 cricket teams. He was also a part of the India Under-19 team that won the Asia Cup 2018.

He captained the India Under-19 cricket team in the 2-match series against Sri Lanka. They whitewashed the Sri Lankan team and won the series 2-0.

On 21 February 2019, he made his T20 debut for Delhi in a 2019–20 Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Mulpadu. In the same year, on 4 October 2019, he played his first List A match against Vadodara in the 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy. After this, his career got a rapid boost when Rajasthan Royals bought young wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat for Rs 80 lakh ahead of IPL 2020.

  • Anuj Rawat’s father also played cricket in his younger days and he wanted to fulfill his dream of playing for India through Anuj. Remembering his old days, Anuj’s father said,

    I used to play cricket in my young days and my dream was that my son should play cricket. When Anuj was young, he used to hold the cricket bat straight. His coach Satish Pokhriyal advised that if I wanted my son to play professional cricket, I should train him in New Delhi.
