Anubhav Sinha is an Indian film director, writer and film producer. His most prominent works include Tum Bin (2001), Dus (2005), Ra.One (2011), and Mulk (2018), and Article 15 (2019).

Anubhav Sinha was born on Tuesday, 22 June 1965 (age 58 years; as of 2023) in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Cancer. Her full name is Anubhav Sushila Sinha. He did his schooling from Kalagarh in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and Government Inter College School, Allahabad. He then obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University in 1988. Sinha later worked in Delhi for a period of two years before moving to Mumbai in 1990.

Before making his directorial debut with the famous Indian television series “Shikast” broadcast on Doordarshan, Anubhav Sinha worked as an assistant director with Indian film director Pankaj Parashar until 1993. The show featured some of the most notable faces of Bollywood, including Manoj Bajpayee and the great Shammi Kapoor, who played the lead role in the series.
After directing “Shikast”, Anubhav directed another TV show “Sea Hawks” for UTV, which aired on Doordarshan in 1997. After directing 76 episodes of “Sea Hawks”, Anubhav Sinha started directing music videos, which he did until 2000. “Deewana” and “Jaan” were two of his music videos which were well received by the public.
He directed his first Bollywood film “Tum Bin” (2001), starring Priyanshu Chatterjee, Himanshu Malik, Amrita Prakash, Rakesh Vashishtha and Sandali Sinha. This film is considered to be one of his most successful films till date, as it not only clashed with the 2001 Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Aks”, but also overshadowed it.
His third project, the multi-starrer film “Dus”, became the eighth highest-grossing film of the year 2005. His other famous works include Tahastu (2006), Cash (2007), Ra. One (2011), and Tum Bin 2 (2016). After ‘Mulk’ (2018); Starring Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu, it embarked on a new genre of filmmaking that portrayed social issues prevalent in the society. He made films with social awakening elements such as “Article 15” (2019) and “Thappad” (2020).
Controversy
Shortly after the release of his film “Dus” starring Shilpa Shetty in 2007, there were many rumors that Anubhav and Shilpa Shetty were secretly dating each other, and it was believed that this led to his relationship with his wife Ratna Sinha. There was serious trouble in their relationship. During that period, Anubhav reportedly left his family for a short period of time. Later both Anubhav and Shilpa Shetty denied the news of dating each other. After this, both of them were not seen together again in any of their future projects.

- He was born in a middle class family of Allahabad. Talking about his upbringing in Allahabad and Varanasi he says,
I am a small-town boy, my father retired in 1991 on a salary of Rs 12,000 – I was fascinated by the glamour, glitz and trappings of filmmaking.”
- He likes to cook in his spare time and also considers himself a good chef.
- After the release of “Article 15”, Anubhav Sinha told in an interview that whenever he gets time, he reads an article of the Indian Constitution. He said,
I always have a PDF tab on my Firefox and whenever possible, I open and read it. I have been doing this for the last 8 months.
- He made his production debut in 2007 with the film “Cash” (2007), and later, started his own production house in 2012 and produced six more films as of 2020.
- Ravish Kumar, managing editor of NDTV India, is also his favorite journalist and close friend.
- Anubhav Sinha has often expressed his disagreement against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in his tweets and Instagram posts and has also been supporting the students standing against it.

- As far as film production is concerned, Anubhav Sinha takes very less time to complete the shooting of his films. He completed Tum Bin in just 27 days, Mulk in 32 days and Thappad in 31 days.
- In November 2020, he revealed on Twitter that his first salary was Rs. 80 which he got after giving tuition to a Class 7 student to supplement his smoking income while he was an engineering student at the age of 18.
