Anish Bhanwala began competing in the Modern Pentathlon Championships and played for the country at the Under-12 Modern Pentathlon World Championships (2013) and the Asian Modern Pentathlon Championships (2015), after which he chose shooting among the five pentathlon sports. Anish started shooting at the age of twelve and took his professional training under the coaching of DSP Harpreet Singh. In 2017, when Anish joined the Indian national shooting team, he was guided by the Indian team’s foreign coach Pavel Smirnov. She won two gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup Championships (2017) held in Suhl, Germany. In 2018, he set a new Commonwealth Games final record of 30 and became the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
In 2019, Anish won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. In the 2022 World Championships held in Cairo, he won the silver medal with 581 points. Subsequently, Anish Bhanwala represented India in the 19th Asian Games (2022) held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. He won a bronze medal for shooting in the men’s 25 meter rapid-fire pistol team event along with his teammates Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh.
The Indian men’s trio finished third with 1718 points, while China earned the gold medal with 1765 points and South Korea won the silver medal with 1734 points.
