Anabel Gutierrez, Mexican actress, died on August 21 at the age of 90. Her grandson, Jose Luis Arevalo, announced the news on Twitter, writing:
“My dear aunt, Anabel Gutierrez, passed away on Sunday night, six hours after saying goodbye and receiving her blessings.” RIP… I will never forget you!
Gutierrez rose to prominence in the comedy show Chespirito as Chimoltrufia’s mother, Dona Espotaverderona. Annabel’s cause of death is unclear and no further information about her funeral has been released.

Anabel Gutierrez’s career in the entertainment industry
Anabel Gutierrez, born September 5, 1931, is still obscure about her educational history. In 1949, she played supporting roles in two films: El Diablo no es Tan Diablo and La Liga de las Muchachas. She eventually landed prominent roles in other films beginning with the 1951 Mexican television series, Deseada. The main characters in the film are played by Dolores del Rio, Jorge Mistral, Jose Baviera, Arturo Soto Rangel, Enriqueta Reza, Hector Herrera, Wibeut Puerta, Don Chinto, Rosario Gutierrez, E. Puga and Nicolas Urcelay. The film received five Ariel Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Music Composition.
She then starred in Azahares para tu boda with Fernando Soler, Marga Lopez, Sara Garcia and Joaquin Pardave. She later rose to prominence in Mexican cinema, receiving critical acclaim for her roles in Muchchas de uniforme, Rostros olvidados and Escuela de vagabundos.
In 1956, she won the Ariel Award for Best Young Actress for her performance in Escuela de vagabundos. In films such as La visita que ne toco el timbre, Angelitos del trapecio and El coyote emplumado, she played leading roles opposite famous Mexican actors. She co-starred alongside Germany’s Robles in the 1999 film La Ploma de Marsells, which was also her last appearance.
