Controversy
Aman Sehrawat competes under the neutral International Olympic Committee flag at the World Championships.
United World Wrestling suspended the Indian Wrestling Federation for failing to conduct elections on time. On 27 April 2023, the Indian Olympic Association convened an ‘ad-hoc’ panel, which was to conduct elections within 45 days. Unfortunately, the panel failed to do so, leading to United World Wrestling suspending the Wrestling Federation of India. Due to the suspension, wrestlers who were to represent India could not compete under the Indian flag at the World Championships 2023, but under the flag of the neutral International Olympic Committee. If the Indian wrestler wins the gold medal, the Indian flag will not be hoisted. will be displayed during the ceremony and the national anthem will not be played. Only the wrestler will get the medal, not India. Thus, Aman Sehrawat will have to play under the flag of the neutral International Olympic Committee.
