Where is Cam Newton now? The star quarterback is looking for a new team.

It’s pretty rare for a Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL MVP to be a free agent when the 2021 NFL season begins to gain momentum. Cam Newton finds himself in that situation, having suffered a spectacular fall following his Super Bowl appearance with the Carolina Panthers in 2015.

Despite numerous injuries in recent seasons, Newton maintains that he has a lot to offer. Newton offers more than certain approval, as his larger-than-life character brings with him a legion of dedicated fans. However, Newton seems to be having a hard time earning a place in the NFL.

Newton is looking for a new club after his brief second stint with the Panthers

The Carolina Panthers signed Cam Newton because they were in desperate need of a QB. Starter Sam Darnold was out with a shoulder injury, depriving the Panthers of a quality QB.

Newton brought an air of optimism that hadn’t been felt in the franchise for a couple of years. He also delivered on the field, hitting a game-winning return against the Arizona Cardinals with two touchdowns on his first two plays.

However, Cam was unable to replicate his virtuoso display in his next five starts. Coach Matt Rhule reinstated Sam Darnold as the starting quarterback.

After the Panthers’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it seemed like Cam was written on the wall. He disappeared down the Bank of America Stadium tunnel, well ahead of his teammates, in what may have been his last appearance at his house with his beloved Panthers.

“Soccer has been good to me,” Newton said. “I was able to get out unscathed. I know it sounds like I’m retiring, but it’s been a great memory.” Newton later stated that his statement was not a farewell speech.

“But what I can be proud of is being able to say that I never blinked, never complained, never complained, never pointed a finger, never wanted it to be easier than it is,” Newton added.

Cam said he’d like to stay with the Panthers and be part of a rebuild, but he can’t control every aspect of his future. “As a man, you have to accept whatever role you have,” Cam said.

Newton believes he can play at the highest level, wherever he ends up. He said ESPN:: “I know the expectations I have of myself. But selfishly, the question can be directed to: ‘Do you think I can still play?’ Yes. I still think I can play. At a high level.”

Cam can stay in Carolina, but he’ll likely have to settle for a backup role. General manager Scott Fitterer said ESPN that the franchise is willing to sign him. Scott said that he was very impressed with Cam and the impact he had. Added installer:

“His leadership and what he did, in a really difficult time…even when it was some of those difficult days after a loss, Cam brought the energy every day. He showed great leadership. Like I told you, he really impressed me. So yeah, we’re open to it.”

Cam signed with the Panthers following his firing from the New England Patriots.

“I still have a lot of football in me,” Cam said in a teaser video posted to Instagram.

Cam wants to continue playing soccer at the highest level, but it’s not clear if there are any teams willing to bet on him. Soccer expert Ian Rapoport told Gresh & Keefe that he hadn’t heard of a team offering Cam a job, but he warned that the potential team might be keeping things under wraps.

In a revealing video about his firing from the New England Patriots, Newton claimed he thinks he’s better than some of the league’s 32 starting quarterbacks and therefore deserves to be on a team. However, it’s unlikely that a team would cut a starting quarterback to accommodate Cam, despite his impressive resume.

“Their best chance is probably a starter who gets hurt, a team that doesn’t have a good backup, doesn’t trust their backup, or thinks they’re one quarterback away from being a real contender,” Ian said. Maybe that team will sign him”.

The New England Patriots released a statement saying a “miscommunication” in protocol led to Cam’s absence from training camp and contributed to his eventual firing.

Cam says that he left camp to get a second opinion on an injury. “I was cleared to go,” Cam told his father, Cecil Newton Sr., in a revealing video posted to Cam’s YouTube channel. Newton feels that he would have been fired regardless of his absence from the camp.

“I think this would have happened without me being out of the team for five days.” Cam asked. “Honestly, yes, it was going to happen. Did he help facilitate the decision? Yeah.”

Newton dismissed reports that he would not have played backup to rookie quarterback Mac Jones. He feels the team had begun to subtly change him to accommodate Jones. He’s of the opinion that he would have comfortably supported Jones, but the Patriots didn’t want that:

“Can we be honest? The reason they released me is because I was indirectly going to be a distraction, to begin with. Just my aura. That is my gift and my curse. When you bring Cam Newton to your facility, to your franchise, people are interested, people are intrigued.”

Ian Rapoport believes that Cam’s perceived inability to be a backup prevents teams from going after him. Ian believes that despite Cam’s claims, he is not cut out to be a peripheral figure. he rapport said:

“I’m not sure being a backup is really something Cam has in mind. And it’s not even his fault, it’s too important. You don’t want your endorsement to be some big magnetic, grandiose personality that fans and teammates will clamor for if it doesn’t work out. Like, not everyone is made to be a backup.”
