Alzarri Joseph is a West Indian cricketer. He is a right arm fast bowler. He led the West Indies team to win the Under-19 World Cup in 2016. In IPL 2019, he was brought in as a replacement for Adam Milne for Mumbai Indians and in his first match, he broke an 11-year-old IPL record. Alzarri Joseph was born on Wednesday, 20 November 1996 (age 22 years; as in 2018) in Antigua, an island of Antigua and Barbuda. He is from a middle class family. He was born and brought up in Antigua and completed his school and college from Antigua.

Alzarri Joseph belongs to a Christian family. His father, Alva Joseph, used to take him to his club, The Leeward Islands Cricket Club, from an early age to practice cricket and play with experienced and senior players. His mother, the late Sharon Joseph, was a football player for the Antigua state team and supported and encouraged him to take up cricket as a profession.

Alzarri made his first-class debut for the home team, Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots, in the 2014–2015 Regional Four Day Competition. He played alongside some of the famous players of the West Indies international cricket team, and he made his maiden first-class 5 wicket haul in this series. Joseph took his career best performance of 7/49 against Guyana in the same series, which helped him catch the attention of the West Indies Cricket Board (CWI).
In 2015, he was selected for the West Indies Under-19 World Cup squad. He took 13 wickets in 6 matches. He was the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies and the third-highest wicket-taker in the series. His best performance of 4/30 in this series against Zimbabwe saw him named man of the match. He was named the fastest bowler of the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, after one of his balls recorded a speed of 143 kmph. Due to this he was selected in the West Indies International Test team.
In 2016, after the Under-19 World Cup, Joseph was selected for the West Indies international Test team. He made his debut against India. He was replaced in the squad by former West Indies cricketer Joel Garner (formerly the highest ranked ODI bowler) in the third Test of the series.
On 2 October 2016, Alzarri made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan in the second One Day International (ODI) of the series and took two wickets in 10 overs.
In 2017, he suffered a stress fracture in his back, due to which he had to undergo surgery. 7 months after the surgery, he played a few matches for his state team, but, the council again put him on bed rest saying that he was not ready for international cricket yet. In 2019, he made his comeback in the Test series against England. During the match, he got the news that his mother had passed away, who was ill for a long time. He finished the day’s match and only after completing all his duties did he go home to mourn. To everyone’s surprise, he came back the next day to play the rest of the match. When he was asked about his presence, he said – “My mother wanted me to do my duty towards my country.” The West Indies team and the England team dedicated that match to her mother and the West Indies dedicated the match to her. He also won the match.
In 2019, he was selected for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a replacement for Adam Milne in the Mumbai Indians squad. Alzarri was retained on the same contract; A replacement cricketer cannot be paid more than the player he is replacing. In his first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he broke the 11-year-old IPL record for the best bowling performance ever in IPL history, previously claimed by Sohail Tanvir. He achieved bowling figures of 6/12.
Joseph was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 11.50 crore in the 2024 IPL auction on 19th December 2023; The auction was held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
