Jordan Poyer is one of eight Buffalo Bills captains looking to lead the team to Super Bowl glory. Unfortunately, the Bills’ inability to beat the big teams doesn’t help the team’s cause. Poyer’s frustration over the team’s recent loss to the Patriots boiled over when he angrily responded to a question about the Buffalo Bills’ tactics.
Poyer is finding more success in his personal life as he recently opened up about his battle with alcoholism. “I don’t drink anymore,” she shared on Players’ Tribune. So I hope everyone agrees with that. I’m trying to be a better me.” Jordan felt compelled to open up to all of his family, including his parents.
Jordan never knew his biological father, who has been in and out of prison for 20 years.
Jordan Poyer was born on April 25, 1991 in Dallas, Oregon, the son of Julie Poyer. When Jordan arrived, Julie had broken up with her biological father, Loius Dunbar.
Julie faced a difficult life as a single mother, but says motherhood saved her life. “Jordan saved my life,” Julie said. the oregon. “When I found out that she was pregnant, that was it, I have to put myself in order.”
Julie spent two years playing volleyball for Chemeketa Community College before leaving for Eastern New Mexico University. Her move prepared her for a meeting with her husband, Fa’alaeo Poyer.
He met Fa’alaeo after his trainer recommended him as a babysitter. Jordan and Fa’alaeo shared an instant connection. “Fa’alaeo fell in love with Jordan long before she fell in love with me,” Julie said.
Jordan never knew his biological father, who spent 20 years in and out of prison. Louis sends an occasional letter, forcing Jordan to imagine a possible meeting between the pair. Jordan explained:
“If he walked in the door right now, what would he do? But the answer is easy: here I have everything I need. Fa’alaeo, he is my father, he is all I have ever known. I play hard for him, for my mom and for my brother. There is nothing ‘in passing’”.
Jordan’s stepfather trained him to be the tough player he is today.
Julie knew Jordan was going to be an athlete when the first word he uttered was ‘ball’. Fa’alaeo also recognized Jordan’s natural athletic talents and began training him.
Grueling workouts on Sunday included pushing a 45-pound sled uphill. When Jordan fought with his brother Jeramy, his parents would make the kids do wall squats until either of them admitted they were wrong.
Relentless training made Jordan a multidisciplinary sports star. He excelled at baseball and soccer and ended up choosing soccer. jordan said the oregon who had some doubts about his choice when he saw the competition in college football:
“Growing up, my dad always told me that I could play college football if I worked hard. I got to OSU and I looked around thinking, ‘These guys are big and fast. Are you serious, dad? I can do this?’ But I am a competitor. I will go as hard as it takes. Even if I lose a leg, I don’t know how not to finish something.”
Despite his initial fear, Jordan thrived through college and made it to the NFL, where he continues to shine. Julie believes that if Jordan is able to win the Super Bowl, he won’t back down under the pressure. She said:
“Jordan loves to be in the spotlight, and there’s something about him when he plays in it. He unites people. He has this magnetic connection. Everyone wants to be a part of his success, and he wants them there.”
