Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician. He is the President of Samajwadi Party (SP). He is the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Akhilesh is the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Akhilesh Yadav was born on Sunday, 1 July 1973 (age 49 years; as in 2022) in Saifai village, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. Their zodiac sign is Cancer. He received his primary education from a local school in Saifai and secondary education from Dholpur Military School, Dholpur, Rajasthan. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore, Karnataka. In the year 2000, Akhilesh Yadav contested the Lok Sabha by-election from Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. He won the election and was elected MP to the 13th Lok Sabha at the age of 27. He was appointed as a member of the Committee on Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution. In 2004, he contested the general elections and was elected MP for the second term. He was a member of various committees in government departments such as Computer, Technology, Environment and Forest and Urban Development. In 2009, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for a third term.
On March 10, 2012, Akhilesh was appointed the leader of Samajwadi Party. On 15 March 2012, Akhilesh was appointed as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; After the victory of Samajwadi Party in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at the age of 38.
In May 2012, he resigned from the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat to serve as the Chief Minister of UP, and also became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. In 2017, SP formed an alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC). Akhilesh and Rahul Gandhi announced that they will contest the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections together and the alliance will be led by Akhilesh Yadav. He could win only 54 seats and lost the election to BJP.
On March 11, 2017, Akhilesh submitted his resignation to Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik. Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Akhilesh was elected the leader of the opposition. On 12 January 2019, Akhilesh along with Mayawati announced that Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) would contest the 2019 general elections together.
They collectively won only 15 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. On 11 June 2019, Mayawati announced that the BSP was breaking its alliance with the SP for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He said that BSP is capable of winning more seats than SP and will contest the assembly elections independently. In the 2019 general elections, Akhilesh Yadav was elected MP from Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
He secured the Karhal seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections; His victory margin was more than 67504 votes. On 22 March 2022, he resigned as MP after being elected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly from Karhal; He became MLA for the first time. Akhilesh Yadav was declared the President of Samajwadi Party for the third time in the National Conference of Samajwadi Party at Ramabai Ambedkar Stadium in Lucknow on 29 September 2022.

- In 2017, Akhilesh was involved in a family feud with his uncle, Shivpal Singh Yadav. Shivpal claimed that there was a conspiracy to expel him from the party and he had also threatened to resign from the post. Mulayam Singh warned Akhilesh that if Shivpal resigned, the party would break. Akhilesh considered it an insult. Mulayam removed Akhilesh from the post of state president of Samajwadi Party and he appointed Shivpal as the president. Akhilesh got enraged at this and dismissed Shivpal and his supporters from the post of minister. He took over the party and was elected national president of SP.
- In May 2017, he said that there were martyrs from UP, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and other parts of India, but no martyrs from the state of Gujarat. He indirectly took a dig at Narendra Modi. He said that BJP asks for votes in the name of martyrs and nationalism, but he does not consider anyone other than himself as a nationalist.
- Akhilesh was criticized by all sections of the society for his controversial statement on 30 May 2014. A reporter had asked him a question on the increasing cases of rape in UP, to which he replied-

- On 2 August 2018, the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) issued a fine of Rs. Rs 6 lakh on Akhilesh Yadav. He was accused of damaging the CM bungalow when he vacated it for Yogi Adityanath. The PWD report said that air conditioners, bathroom fittings, garden lighting and many other fittings were missing from the bungalow. It was also said that Akhilesh had spent Rs. Rs 4.60 crore on illegal construction inside the bungalow.
- On 13 February 2019, Akhilesh Yadav was on his way to Allahabad (now Prayagraj) when he was stopped by the UP Police at Lucknow airport. Yadav was informed that he was not allowed to board the flight; As the Allahabad district administration had warned of a possible law and order crisis upon his arrival.
