Akash Gupta is a noted Indian stand-up comedian, actor and YouTuber who rose to fame with his debut in the Indian comedy reality show, ‘Comicstan’ Season 2. He shared his victory in the show with Samay Raina. Akash started his career as a theater artist and used to do improvisational theatre. Before coming to ‘Comicstan’, he was already a rising name in the comedy-circuit, and had mastered genres like sketch comedy and improv comedy. With the help of his experience in theatre, he made his way into the world of comedy.

Akash Gupta was born on Tuesday, 5 January 1993 (age 27 years; as in 2020), and hails from Delhi. He did his schooling from Sumermal Jain Public School, New Delhi, and pursued Bachelor of Commerce from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi (2010–2013).

After completing his graduation in commerce, in 2013, Akash started working as an auditor at KPMG Gurgaon, Haryana, where he worked for about a year.

Akash was fond of theater since his college days. He continued to pursue his passion and after graduation took a job as an auditor as well as going into professional theater. Through theatre, he was introduced to ‘improvisation’, commonly referred to as ‘improv’, a style of comedy in which the act performed is unplanned or unscripted. He also joined ‘Kaivalya Plays’, a spontaneous improv comedy group.
After doing theater for some time and honing his acting skills, Akash started uploading comedy sketches on his YouTube channel. On 27 April 2017, Aakash uploaded his first comedy sketch titled ‘Wretched Man’.
Subsequently, he uploaded several other comedy sketch videos, such as ‘Shared Cab,’ ‘Drunk Beta,’ and ‘Career Looters,’ etc. After working with the improv community for a year, he decided to try his luck at open mics. Akash was an auditor by day and comedian by night; Performing stand-up at open mics across Delhi. Stand-up was a new genre of comedy for him; In an interview he said
So I had to write my own material for people, which I wasn’t used to, because improv is a team thing. There is no writing in it. So this was a new thing for me. I tried it, I liked it and started doing it.
On 11 June 2017, Akash came into limelight with his first stand-up comedy video, which he uploaded on his channel ‘Train Journeys & Honeymoon Trips’.
The video went viral, and his recognition led to him getting paid to appear on several comedy shows. Continuing his journey as a comedian, he performed and uploaded various stand-ups, ‘Relationships, Clubbing & Cocktails,’ ‘Delhi Metro,’ etc. which earned him his YouTube Silver Play Button. On July 12, 2019, Aakash made his digital debut with Amazon Prime’s ‘Comicstan’ Season 2.
