Aishe Ghosh was born on Sunday, 22 October 1995 (age 28 years; as of 2023) in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. Her zodiac sign is Libra. Career

President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union

Aishe Ghosh was elected as the President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union in September 2019 and represented the left student organisations. By 2020, Aishe was leading strikes, protests and demonstrations, highlighting issues such as social justice, gender equality, and academic freedom. Aishe had also been actively involved in discussions with university authorities and policymakers to address student grievances and push for positive changes in the academic environment. Aishe Ghosh has played a significant role in standing up for students’ rights and well-being. During her time, she has been actively involved in addressing various student issues. Aishe has been a strong advocate for affordable and quality education for all students, fighting against higher fees, and making sure that marginalized groups feel included on campus.

Ghosh has actively participated in protests against the university’s gender sensitization committee being disbanded and the lack of accountability for Atul Johri, a professor facing sexual harassment allegations. She also disapproves of the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that they have not adequately supported educational institutions and have targeted the university since gaining power. On January 5, 2020, Aishe Ghosh, the president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union, became the victim of a violent attack on the campus allegedly perpetrated by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). She sustained a severe head injury and hurt her arm during the incident and was taken to AIIMS Delhi Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Vandalism Case

The Delhi Police registered two first information reports (FIRs) against Ghosh and 26 other students for allegedly vandalizing the server room and attacking security guards during protests against a fee hike on January 1 and 4. The FIRs were filed while a mob attack was happening on campus, causing injuries to Ghosh and 33 others. In an interview with NDTV, Ghosh refuted the violence allegations, saying she had evidence, including voice messages and screenshots, to support her innocence. She accused the security guards of attacking students in the server room. She blamed activists from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), for the assault. According to NDTV, Aishe Ghosh, the President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union, confidently denied involvement in the alleged vandalism at the university’s server room on January 1 and 4. She claimed that the accusations against her were fabricated by the university authorities. She has not been convicted in the cases.
