Adele pauses concert to pay tribute to Matthew Perry

During a recent concert, Adele paused to pay tribute to the late actor Matthew Perry.

During Adele’s residency show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, she gave a heartfelt speech about Perry, who passed away earlier that day.

Since Adele’s show occurred over Halloween weekend, she remembered Perry dressed as Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.

The “Easy On Me” singer recalled Perry’s iconic role as Chandler Bing, explaining, “I will remember that character for the rest of my life. He is probably the best comic character of all time.”

“It’s always so impactful, especially someone who made you laugh and brought so much joy into your life that you don’t know,” the 35-year-old singer-songwriter added. “This is what seems so strange to me, I never met him in my life. “There’s something that makes you feel very sad, especially because you don’t necessarily know what was going on,” Adele continued.

“He was very open about his struggle with addiction and sobriety, which I think is incredibly, incredibly brave,” she said. “I just want to say how much I love what he did for us, especially what he did for me… and I hope that now he can rest in peace.”

As reported by parade, Adele recently opened up about how she stopped drinking alcohol during her journey to sobriety. During the show, the singer dedicated her song “When We Were Young” to Perry, relating to her struggle with her addiction.

“We drove to swim in streams, drank beers at the local university bar, kissed in a field of tall grass. It was a magical summer. She had shot the Friends pilot but it hadn’t aired yet. He was nervous, hoping his big break was just around the corner. Was. We remained friends for a while until we grew apart, but I was always happy to see him when he did,” he continued.

Paltrow concluded: “Today I am very sad, like many of us. I hope Matthew is finally at peace. “I really believe it.”
