the turning point

His strike rate was good; However, he lacked the vision to build his innings. In 2018, when he came back to Jammu after playing the Under-19 tournament, a camp was set up at the Science College grounds where former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan came to scout and groom young cricket talents. From Jammu and Kashmir. A turning point in Samad’s career came when former Irfan Pathan spotted him during a cricket trial held at the camp. Irfan, who was the mentor of the senior Jammu and Kashmir state team at the time, was stunned to see how easily Samad could hit the ball out of the park. At that time Samad was just a 16 year old child. Impressed by Samad’s hard-hitting skills, Irfan Pathan researched Samad’s performance in junior-level cricket, but found that Samad has not scored a single half-century yet. Irfan understood that Samad lacked the patience required to score big runs. Irfan made Samad realize his potential as a batsman. Irfan told Samad to focus on building his innings and hit the ball selectively instead of trying to bowl every ball across the boundary line. Irrfan took him under his wing and not only trained him as a coach but also guided him as a mentor.
