Here are 5 horrifying facts about Kristen Grindley’s crash and escape.
1) Investigators believe Grindley was forced out of the vehicle or fell.
According to authorities, Grindley was pushed out of her ex-boyfriend Pasma’s car or accidentally fell out of the car the night before she was found unconscious. A passerby found her body on Pullman-Albion Road the next day and mistook it for a deer. She was barely clothed and barely kept alive.
2) She suffered serious injuries, including a cracked skull.
Grindley was taken to Sacred Heart Providence Medical Center in Spokane for treatment. She was hospitalized with a skull fracture, broken shoulder, ankle and nose, and other scratches and bruises.
3) Richard Pasma received nine months in prison.
Ricard Pasma was sentenced to nine months in prison after refusing to plead guilty. The judge who sentenced him to prison said he was given the maximum possible prison sentence and anything less would be “a slap in the face to Miss Grindley”. Pasma has no criminal record.
4) Grindley says Pasma abused him.
Grindley recalled trying to climb into Pasma’s car after recalling the memory of that fateful night. However, she doesn’t know how she turned out. Prosecutors argued that Pasma should have informed health authorities after the incident. Interestingly, she also said that she was a victim of domestic violence while living with him.
5) The breed’s advisor holds Grindley responsible for her accident.
Pasma’s attorney, Tim Esser, argued that Grindley was drunk when she fell out of the car. He wrote briefly,
“The defense argued that Kristen Grindley was solely responsible for her injuries; that in a moment of obsession and intoxication, she got into the back of Pasma’s truck and somehow jumped out without him knowing.
Esser also released a handwritten letter from Grindley in which she said she wanted to “fix” her relationship with her lover by cutting down on her drinking.
