The 2021 MacBook Pro is an incredible machine and in typical Apple style, interested shoppers can choose from a number of stylish colors for their new laptop. Over the years, Apple has developed an interesting habit when it comes to product colors. Bright, shimmering colors are now a common feature in its base products, but the company has been much more lenient when it comes to “professional” gear. The iPhone 13 comes in pink, blue, red, green, white, and black. In contrast, the iPhone 13 Pro comes in blue, green, gold, silver, and gray colors.
For the 2021 MacBook Pro, Apple has built one of the most interesting laptops in years. It comes in two sizes (14 inches and 16 inches), features improved M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets, a mini LED display, and more ports than previous generations. If previous MacBook Pros have disappointed potential buyers, the 2021 model could be the upgrade everyone’s been waiting for.
While all of this is great, there’s still one important question to answer: What colors will the 2021 MacBook Pro come in? While Apple may have experimented with bright, vibrant colors on the iMac M1 a few months before the MacBook Pro was released, the same creativity hasn’t been applied to the Pro laptop. The MacBook Pro 2021 is available in space gray and silver — exactly like previous MacBook Pros. No matter what size or spec configuration someone chooses, those are the only two colors available.

Even if only two styles are available, that still means a decision needs to be made. For most, Space Gray is probably the color of choice. It’s nice and soft, it goes well with the black keyboard and looks great. Space gray is available this Color of choice for Macs since the introduction of the 12-inch MacBook in March 2015. Some people prefer space gray because it’s darker and more discreet than silver. Others prefer it because it is often seen as a more modern choice. Whatever your reason for wanting a space gray Mac, it looks great on the 2021 MacBook Pro.

By contrast, silver is a solid choice for anyone who wants the iconic MacBook aesthetic. Some might argue that it looks dated compared to the space gray, but the combination of sterling silver with the black keyboard is an undeniable combination. It has also been suggested that silver is more practical of the two. Since Space Gray has a painted finish on the aluminum body, it is more likely to get scratched. The silver color is closer to the natural aluminum color and any wear and tear will not be noticeable.
While space gray and silver always look good, it’s disappointing that Apple doesn’t offer any other colors. These are very interesting laptops. They address nearly all of the concerns of previous generations, are more powerful than ever, and prove that Apple still knows how to make a “pro” machine. It would be great if there were some fun colors to go with all of this, but alas, space gray and silver are what we have.
