Prodigal son is a Fox series that centers on a psychopathic father and a determined son who wants to find the killer who is copying his father’s modus operandi. Malcolm Bright’s father was a serial killer known as The Surgeon, and now he’s behind bars partly because of Malcolm.
Malcolm works for the NYPD and has not spoken to his father, Dr. Whitly, since his imprisonment. However, when a copycat killer emerges, he is forced to consult his father in an attempt to understand the killer’s motives. The killer is pretty nasty and Malcolm has to defeat his own demons to have a chance of catching him.

Killing Eve (2018-)
The BBC show features a serial killer dedicated to the perfect kills. She is a trained assassin, and this makes her more dangerous than your typical serial murder. Eve is the British intelligence officer tasked with catching this psychopathic killing machine.
Eve is determined to catch the killer, and the two leads soon form a bond. Eve becomes obsessed with catching Villanelle and finding out everything she can about her. The gruesome murders and Eve’s insistent desire to understand and catch Villanelle make the series gruesome and highly entertaining.

Dexter (2006-2013)
Right handed is based on the novel dexter dreaming darkly, and follows Metro PD consultant and serial killer, Dexter. We see the series through Dexter’s eyes as he narrates each episode. Dexter is a blood spatter specialist for the Department and gives him access to the records he needs to choose his victims.
Dexter is a serial killer with a code. He only kills other serial killers. Dexter differs from other serial killer shows because we identify with the killer. Dexter is a disturbed man, but you always find yourself supporting his cause.

Marcella (2016-)
It’s always a sticky situation when a law enforcement officer finds himself investigating a murder he might have committed. This is the situation Marcella, a housewife turned researcher, finds herself in.
Marcella is called in to investigate a series of murders involving suffocation with a plastic bag. Meanwhile, Marcella finds out that her husband is cheating on her, and after a while, the woman she cheated on him with ends up dead. Marcella has a motive and, in the back of her head, she believes that she participated in the murder.
The problem is that, during rage attacks, he suffers blackouts that affect his memory. Watch Marcella on Netflix to discover the secrets of the rich in London.
American Horror Story: Asylum. (2012-2013)
It is difficult to choose a station from the american horror story series, but Asylum was particularly chilling. Asylum it had everything from sexual abuse to aliens playing a role in the narrative.
When she was young, Lana was raped by a serial killer named Bloody Face and gave birth to a psychopathic son. Many years later, Lana’s illegitimate son wants to be reunited with her mother, her journalist. However, it may not be the warm reunion of mother and son that you imagine.

Bats Motel. (2013-2017)
You may know Freddie Highmore in his lifesaving role as Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor. However, at Bates Motel, we find out how Shaun’s (Norman) relationship with his mother turned him into a psychopathic killer.
motel is a prequel to the film Psycho and follows Norman as his mental state deteriorates. He believes that his beloved mother (Norma) killed his teacher and other people. Norma sends Norman to a nursing home, and when he returns home, he discovers that his mother is in a relationship with her nemesis, Sheriff Romero.

The Alienist (2018)
Before the science of the mind was appreciated, people who worked with mentally ill patients were known as alienists. Dr. Laszlo Kreizler is one of the best in his field, and is called upon by Commissioner Teddy Roosevelt to investigate the gruesome murders of child prostitutes in late 19th century New York.
Dr. Laszlo battles his own demons and must defeat them to catch the mad killer. He faces stiff opposition from the elite of New York society, but with the right help, he has every chance of success. You can see the alienist on Netflix.
Perfume (2018)
When it comes to insane killers, the killer in Fragrance is possibly the worst among them. This German series is based on the novel Das Parfumand follows a serial killer who removes his victim’s hair and scent glands.
Nadja Simon is called in to investigate the case, becoming increasingly frustrated when more bodies turn up. This six part series will have you on the edge of her seat as she tries to understand a murderer he kills because of his perfume.

The Bridge (2013-2014)
The city of El Paso, Texas is shaken to its core when a severed body is found on the Bridge of the Americas. The body turns out to be from two different people, and Detective Sonya Cross discovers that the killer has accumulated 22 other bodies.
The murders straddle both sides of the border and Cross had to work with Detective Marco Ruiz from Mexico to catch the serial murder. The show is mostly about the killer, but it also offers a terrifying look at drug dealing and immigration.

Sharp Objects (2018)
sharp objects is adapted from Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name. Camille Preaker is covering the investigation of two kidnapped girls from her hometown. One of the girls is found dead and it becomes imperative to locate the second girl.
The show focuses on Camille’s life and her attraction to Detective Richard Willis, but most of the focus is on the increasing body count in Camille’s town. The mystery surrounding the murders makes Sharp Objects a movie not to be missed.

The Fall (2013-2016)
The fall introduces us to the troubled mind of family man and serial killer Paul Spector (Jamie Dornan). Paul stalks his female victims, strangling them and pedicuring their corpses. He carefully cleans the bodies and paints their nails.
Stella Gibson is called in to investigate this murder and develops a special relationship with Spector. Stella, a sexually positive woman, discovers who he is and strives to delve into his mind. As the show progresses, we get to see the mystery through the eyes of Stella and Spector.

The following (2013-2015)
Literature professor Joe Carroll violently murdered 14 people by stabbing them in the eyes. He was apprehended by Detective Ryan Hardy, but Ryan was stabbed through the heart because of his problem. Eleven years later, his heart is fine, but he needs a pacemaker to keep beating.
Carroll used his time in prison to create a fanatical cult of serial killers who helped him escape. He now claims there are 300 serial killers on the loose, and while that number is vastly exaggerated, it takes its toll on Hardy.
The next it’s limited to one serial killer, but it also explores the nuances of Carroll’s army of serial killers. You can watch the show on Amazon Prime.
