Attack on Titan, better known to fans by its Japanese name Attack on Titan, is a mainstream shounen anime series that has been hugely popular since its initial release in 2014. That’s largely thanks to its high-quality animation, impressive soundtrack, and believable characters that fight to the death for humanity against rival Titans.
Based on a manga of the same name in the works, the series has already run for three seasons, with a fourth (and possibly final) coming out next year. So let’s recap a few popular memes related to the show and make everyone laugh!

explain Attack the giant
When it comes to anime-related memes, many people tend to incorporate images from the currently airing animated show SpongeBob SquarePants for comic effect. Such is the case here, with the sad endings of Patrick Star’s infamous ugly oyster story being used to briefly describe the Attack on Titan franchise.
In a world where giant humanoid beings known as Titans roam the Earth and hunt down the remnants of humanity living in walled settlements, Attack on Titan is full of brutal violence as many people die at the hands of these monsters. So this meme is not only interesting because of its blunt and dark message, but also because it accurately reflects the show.
open without skipping
Among the many quotes from the Lord of the Rings movies, Boromir’s famous line “One does not simply enter Mordor” is so famous on the Internet that it is used in many memes. So, naturally, someone decided to associate this phrase with Attack on Titan, as we can see in the meme above.
While swapping Boromir’s face for a giant is funny in itself, what makes this meme all the more interesting is that they replaced “into Mordor” with “skip the beginning of Attack on Titan”, which means people shouldn’t skip the opening scene of each titan attack. Now, this is relevant since nearly every opening sequence is breathtaking and accompanied by great music, so why would anyone skip it?
Mankind’s Strongest Warrior
While shounen series are generally aimed at boys, they can also appeal to girls, with the appeal of male characters being one of the common reasons for this. So Attack on Titan’s majority of teen boys may appeal to some, but the fan favorite is Levi Ackerman.
Levi is the captain of the special operations unit of the Reconnaissance Corps (aka the Survey Corps), whose mission is to venture out of walled settlements and confront the Titans to reclaim the land in the name of humanity, Levi is considered humanity’s strongest soldier due to his ability to destroy multiple Titans at once. However, as the meme above shows, the guy is also obsessed with cleaning, as he worked hard along with the rest of the Task Force members to clean up the entire castle in season one of the episode “Special Team: Before Strike Back, Season 2.”
3:00 am Giants
Although a single giant can be deadly, it is nothing compared to the damage and carnage that a swarm of giants can inflict. Therefore, it is not wise to deal with them alone. However, in Attack the giant In the second season episode “Southwest”, a group of giants ambushed Utgarde Castle, forcing the Comrades to defend themselves inside, hence the above image.
But the terrible situation is humorously written by each of the characters in the image, including the giants and cadet Qiye being attacked by them. Each sentence not only describes a related event, but overall, the meme says all the things we can think of late at night.
Lord and Savior of the Titans
Due to their human-like appearance, giants are truly terrifying as they devour ordinary humans alive. But sometimes, despite their attempts to appear threatening, they can unintentionally appear silly.
This is the case with the Titan pictured above, from the episode “First Battle: Battle of Trost, Part 1” in the first season of Attack on Titan. Dubbed “The Bearded Titan” for obvious reasons, his resemblance to the canonical image of God, the old man with the white beard, makes parodies of the house-to-house Christian missionary’s meme tagline all the more interesting.
eat a bar of snickers alan
As the last main character of “Attack on Titan”, Alan Yeager is naturally the most interested person. Traumatized by the death of his mother at the hands of the Titans after the Titans invaded his home world, he joins the army along with his childhood friends Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Alert to avenge the Titans.
Ironically, at the beginning of the first season, Allen had the ability to transform into a Titan when his life was in danger. So it’s funny to compare it to the famous Snickers commercial in which someone acts irrationally unless they eat that candy.
good annie
When Alan’s massive transformation abilities are revealed, it turns out he’s not the only one. In subsequent Attack on Titan seasons, he’s met other creatures that can also transform into Titans, starting with Anne Leonhardt in season one. Despite her cold appearance, Anne displays a fierce personality, a female titan who specializes in killing people for her ulterior motives.
So the meme above is funny because it uses the lyrics of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” sung by the girls in the musical K-ON! Plus, Annie’s response is great.
Titan destroys humans
There are many reasons why the above meme is great. First, its catchphrase, a “loser get in, go shopping” meme game, is actually a line from the movie Mean Girls. Second, the people in the car were all dressed up as infamous giants, but the wreaths on their heads lessened their threat.
However, in the episode “Attack on Titan”, the giant giant is shown to be another creature that can transform just like Alan. But its presence sparked several events in the series that made it iconic.
Mosquito vs Titan
Due to their enormous size, the Titans consider small humans like us either tasty treats or nasty bugs, depending on whether they rebel or not. So the image above, taken from Season 2 of Attack on Titan, illustrates the latter, with several members of the Reconnaissance Squad ambushing the armored Titan.
It appears in the first episode alongside the giant Titan, which is also iconic in its own right, and is later revealed to be a shape-shifting human like Alan. However, the image is still humorous thanks to the text above the character and its relevance to the scene in question.
potato girl
In addition to Allen, Mikasa and Amin have many supporting roles in “Attack on Titan”. But given the number of deaths that happen in each episode, it’s hard to get interested in any of them.
However, one of the few longest survivors is Sasha Braus, also nicknamed “Potato Girl”. Since blatantly eating potatoes during trainee training in Season 1’s “Light of Despair: Human Revenge, Part 1,” she’s become a hugely popular character, used in some of Attack on Titan’s hilarious memes, such as the one above, where she’s stacked on the stomach of a Titan devouring Alan.
