1 in 50 million: woman born with 2 wombs miraculously pregnant in both wombs

The miraculous story of Kelsey Hatcher had an incredible 1 in 50 million chance of happening.

An Alabama mother, Kelsey Hatcher, defied incredible odds to discover she was pregnant with a baby in each of her two wombs.

At age 32, Kelsey already had three healthy children when she discovered she had a rare condition: being born with two uteruses. Throughout her previous pregnancies, this anomaly never posed any unusual challenges—until now.

While she always considered the possibility of having babies in both wombs during her pregnancies, it seemed more like a long shot than a reality. During a routine eight-week ultrasound for her current pregnancy, Kelsey casually mentioned her double uterus to the technician, just to make sure it was in her medical history. As the technician scanned, Kelsey herself saw it.

“He didn’t even get a chance to speak when I blurted out, ‘Oh my God, there’s another one!’” she said.

Only about 0.3% of women have two uteruses, a condition known as uterus didelphys. The chance of conceiving in both countries is a staggering 1 in 50 million. For Kelsey, it was like winning the lottery, twice. The doctors’ confirmation left her so “stunned” that laughter was her initial reaction.

Without a specific medical term, the babies, both girls, are considered fraternal twins. Surprisingly, Kelsey has not had any complications. Carrying two babies in separate wombs seems similar to having twins in one womb.

Hatcher’s miraculous story may even remind others of the biblical story of the Virgin Mary, especially considering that the mother’s due date is December 22. Talk about a Christmas miracle!

“I have felt very blessed and grateful,” Kelsey shared. “I have carried my three previous babies to term, two of the three even at 41 weeks. “I have full faith that this delivery will be excellent and will continue to exceed all expectations.”
