He stated that when Lino faced “unimaginable health problems” that threatened the couple’s future, their family came together to support each other. According to the story, this simply shows that “love has no limits.” Tembi Locke, the author of the book, and her sister Attica Locke wrote the first and last volumes. Amy Wang, JJ Braider, Marguerite MacIntire, Joshua Allen and Jason Coffey are among the other writers on the series. Nzinha Stewart and Dennie Gordon direct the series.
In a 2019 interview about her biography, Locke said that after losing her husband, the idea arose while she was in Sicily with her daughter and mother-in-law:
“How did we get here, especially considering where we started AND the fact that the only person connecting us is no longer alive? The question jumped out of the book. Of course, it took me another two years to feel ready to write it. I need to muster up the courage to share the story… ‘I have something to say, this story is very important.’ Maybe more for women, and maybe even more for black women.”
Since this series is based on real events, viewers are sure to find it fascinating. From Scratch will premiere on Netflix on October 21, 2022.
