Zeeshan Siddiqui is an Indian politician, best known as the MLA of Vandre East constituency and President of Mumbai Youth Congress. He is also known as the son of popular politician Baba Siddiqui.

Facts/General Knowledge
- In 2011, when he was a student at MMK College in Bandra, he spent a lot of money to turn the college fest, Lakshya, into a major event. He organized a lunch for around 600 students at Taj Lands End. They also booked three rooms in the hotel where students were seen playing guitar and casino. Zeeshan paid the expenses. To promote the event, 8 hoardings were placed on 20 buses advertising “Zeeshan Siddiqui presents Lakshya 2011.” In an interview he had said that his father was bearing the expenses and he had no knowledge about it. His father later said that he had not asked the college to advertise his son and he did not want his son to get embroiled in any controversy. In the interview he further said,
I have studied in MMK College and because of my attachment to the institute, I am contributing to the event. Is it wrong to spend money for a good cause? Regarding Zeeshan, I never asked the college authorities or the Target Organizing Committee to promote him.
- In 2021, the Bombay High Court ordered the Maharashtra government to look into the COVID-19 vaccines made available to the public by actors Sonu Sood and Zeeshan. ‘These people (celebrities) projected themselves as some kind of messiahs, without confirming whether the medicines were fake or the supply was legitimate,’ the HC said in a statement. In this matter, we ask the state government to investigate their actions. State advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni said in a statement that the vaccines were provided to Zeeshan by a charitable trust called BDR Foundation, which did not have permission to supply them. Later, the Maharashtra government said that the Mazgaon magistrate’s court has registered a case against the trust and its trustees. Actor Sonu Sood received medicines from multiple pharmacies inside the private Lifeline Care hospital in Goregaon.
- In 2021, he wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi complaining about the “misbehavior” meted out to him by Mumbai chief Bhai Jagtap during a public protest. In a letter, Siddiqui said that during a morcha in Dadar, Jagtap misbehaved with him in the presence of senior leaders. In the letter he said,
Before the protest, a delegation of leaders went to Raj Grih, the memorial of Dr BR Ambedkar, to pay respect to the creator of the Constitution of India. Senior leaders KC Venugopalji and HK Patilji were included in the delegation. Despite being one of the only four MLAs from Mumbai representing the party, my name was not in the list. Being an elected representative, when the police officers were ready to let me go [to the memorial], Jagtapji came out and told the personnel not to allow me to be part of the delegation. When I requested that he should protect me as he is my president, he used abusive language at me. He told me, ‘If you feel bad about it then fuck off.’
- In 2022, he took to Twitter to accuse the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), BMC and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority in Bandra East area of corruption in projects. In a Twitter post he said,
H/East ward is full of corruption, all the work done by MMRDA and BMC in the last 2.5 years should be thoroughly investigated. BKC smart parking, pothole filled roads, SWM scam, poorly planned cycling track, SRA scam. I could go on and on about things!”
- In 2022, when the Maharashtra government announced that it would build 300 houses in Mumbai for MLAs coming from rural areas, Zeeshan took to Twitter to talk about the decision taken by the Maharashtra government and criticized it. In a Twitter post, the government said that these houses will be allotted to MLAs who are from outside Mumbai and find it difficult to buy or rent flats in Mumbai. According to the opposition party, MLAs should not be given houses because they get monthly allowance and can buy flats. In a Twitter post he said,
I do not need houses from the Maharashtra government, while thousands of people in my Vandre East constituency are not getting houses and are living in dilapidated conditions. Maharashtra Chief Minister and Jitendra Avhad ji are requested to spend this money on building their own houses instead of giving houses to the MLAs.”
