Early life

Zachary William Taylor better known as Zac Taylor is better known as Zac Taylor was born in the May 10, 1983, in Norman, Oklahoma, in the United States of America. According to his date of birth, this NFL coach is 40 years old and has American nationality.

He is the son of Sherwood Taylor (father) and his mother’s name is currently unknown. Professionally, his father was Oklahoma defensive back and captain and head coach Barry Switzer from 1976 to 1979.

He grew up with his three siblings, Press Taylor, Kathryn Taylor and Quincy Taylor. Her brother Press is a quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles and her sister Kathryn is a Special Olympics swimmer.

College career

Regarding his academic career, he attended Norman High School. Later, he began his college playing career at Wake Forrest University in 2002. After a redshirt season and a season as a backup quarterback, he went to Butler Community College in search of a starting position.

He considered returning to D-1 football after leading the team to the NJCAA title game and earning second-team NJCAA All-American honors. He chose the University of Nebraska and its head coach, Bill Callahan.

Taylor broke several school records over the next two seasons and finished the school with virtually every single-game/season/career passing record, some of which have since been broken. Taylor was also named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2012.

Career

Zac Taylor went undrafted after his college career, but signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During training camp, he was released from the roster.

After his failed NFL audition, he signed as the fourth quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. He retired from playing after the 2007 season and began his coaching career.

Coaching career

Taylor began his coaching career at Texas A&M University in 2008, under his father-in-law and head coach Mike Sherman, after a brief playing career. He was a tight ends coach and graduate assistant for the Aggies during his tenure at Texas A&M.

Sherman was fired at the end of the 2011 season after a disappointing season. He left Texas A&M to become the Miami Dolphins’ assistant quarterbacks coach for the 2012 season, continuing his career with Sherman, who was promoted to offensive coordinator under new head coach Joe Philbin.

The Dolphins selected Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill with their first-round pick. Taylor was promoted to quarterbacks coach after the season. He was named temporary offensive coordinator for the final five games of the 2015 season after the firing of Bill Lazor.

He returned to the university as a coach for one year after his time with the Dolphins. Taylor was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2016 season.

He returned to the professional ranks after a single season in college as an assistant wide receivers coach under new Rams head coach Sean McVay. In his first season in Los Angeles, the Rams won the NFC West.

Taylor was promoted to quarterbacks coach the following season when the Rams went 12-4, falling in the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. Additionally, he was named the next head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals after two seasons in Los Angeles. In 2021, he led the Bengals to their first playoff victory since 1990, breaking the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en route to the franchise’s first trip to Super Bowl LVI since 1988.
