Eric took to Facebook on Friday (April 21) to share his story in a video.
He explained that he was having problems with his prostate after a knee replacement and went to a urologist to discuss how to treat it. After a UroLift procedure was recommended, his problems worsened, prompting him to seek a second opinion.
His diagnosis came shortly after and he underwent a UroLift during which doctors removed the cancer. She began receiving treatment after doctors found “high-grade cancer cells.”
“So that’s where I am now,” he explained, announcing that he planned to continue acting while undergoing weekly treatment for six weeks. “I’m a little bad, but not much. Now I have learned to listen to my body more and not go all out. I’m going to get it. And soon I will be back in top shape.”
He also explained why he felt the need to speak out: “I hate to be so personal, but I think this might be good for some older kids who may or may not hear this,” he said.
We will keep Eric in our thoughts and hope he makes a full recovery soon.
At the beginning of this year The Young and the Restless celebrated its 50th anniversary in style.
