After the birth of his daughter Lucy, The young and the restless Student Jordi Vilasuso and his wife Kaitlin are now asking for prayers for the little one.
Lucy, who was born earlier this month, was hospitalized after contracting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Jordi’s wife, Katilin, spoke about the terrifying health problem.
“On Monday we found out that Lucy had RSV and by Monday night she had already been admitted to hospital. [with] difficulty breathing,” Kaitlyn explained. “Last night, things took a turn for the worse unexpectedly and she was moved to the NICU. [with] what doctors described as a partially collapsed right lung. “I still have a hard time believing this as I write.”
Jordi and Kaitlin Vilasuso also asked their followers to pray for the little one. “Please pray with us for the miraculous healing of Lucy’s precious little body. “We love her very much and we just want her at home, happy and in our arms.”
According to the CDC, RSV is a common respiratory virus that causes mild cold-like symptoms in adults and older children. However, in infants and older or immunocompromised adults, the virus could cause severe symptoms requiring hospitalization. It can also cause serious illnesses such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia.
The CDC reports that two or three out of every 100 babies with RSV may need to be hospitalized. Those hospitalized with the virus may need oxygen, intravenous fluids and mechanical ventilation. With proper treatment, most children with RSV are usually discharged within a few days.
Jordi and Kaitlin Vilasuso share an update on Lucy’s progress
Days after little Lucy was admitted for VSR, Jordi and Kaitlin Vilasuso shared a positive update on the baby’s progress.
“Jordi and I are so grateful that you all showered us with prayers and love once again,” Kaitlin said on Instagram. “I know it sounds crazy, but we literally FEEL it, and our family has gained so much strength from your encouragement.”
Jordi Vilasuso’s wife also stated that Lucy is proving to be quite a fighter. “The biggest compliment is that the x-ray of her lungs looked significantly better than the last one taken the night she was transferred to the NICU,” Kaitlin continued.
However, Lucy still needs a lot of prayers as she continues her treatments. “She’s still using the CPAP machine,” Kaitlin said. “But we pray that as they try to wean her off, her pulse and breathing rate stay strong and the CO2 in her blood continues to decrease.”
Kaitlin then wrote that once Lucy stops using CPAP, doctors will move her to regular oxygen without pressure. She will also be able to remove her feeding tube. “We are beyond grateful for the positive progress,” she added. The family is currently working around their schedules while Lucy is in the hospital.
