Yashpal Dayal was born on Saturday, 13 December 1997 (age 25 years; as of 2022) in Chakia Mohalla, Karbala, Prayagraj (then-Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India. Their zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He started playing cricket in his childhood after watching his father play cricket. He started playing cricket at the age of eight and played senior division matches at the age of ten. He studied at Bishop Johnson School, Prayagraj, where he began his cricket training at the age of twelve under Ghulam Mortaza, father of cricketer Ali Mortaza. Later he did his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, New Cantt, Prayagraj and played many tournaments for his school. He trained at Allahabad Cricket Academy. He played in regional level and national level teams and captained the Varanasi region team for the National School Tournament. When he was in 10th class, his father asked him if he wanted to become a cricketer or focus on his studies; He then decided to become a professional cricketer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons) in Psychology from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj.

He played his first ODI for Uttar Pradesh against Chhattisgarh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on 21 September 2018, taking 1 wicket for 41 runs. He played his first Ranji match for Uttar Pradesh team on 1 November 2018 against Goa and took 2 wickets for 74 runs in the match. He played his first T20 match for Uttar Pradesh against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 21 February 2019, taking 1 for 17. He took 5 wickets for 48 runs in an innings of a Ranji match and 9 wickets for 121 runs in an innings of a Ranji match. He played for the India A team in the New Zealand A tour of India in 2022. In the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was among the five highest wicket-takers with 14 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 17.35 and an economy of 3.77.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
In the 2022 mega-auction of the 2022 IPL season, he was bought by Gujarat Titans (GT) for Rs 3.2 crore against his base price of Rs 20 lakh. He played his first IPL match on 13 April 2022 against Rajasthan Royals. He helped the Titans win the 2022 IPL tournament with best bowling figures of 3 for 40 in 9 matches at an average of 26.91 and an economy of 9.25.
On 9 April 2023, in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2023, KKR batsman and Uttar Pradesh teammate Rinku Singh hit him for 5 consecutive sixes which won the match for KKR as KKR were bowled out in the last over. 28 runs were needed. To Win. Dayal was seen holding his head in his hands in despair after the defeat; However, KKR tweeted that Dayal was a champion and it was a bad day on the field. He gave 69 runs in 4 overs during the match, which became the second highest number of runs given in the IPL.

Yash Dayal was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. Rs 5 crore against the base price of Rs. 20 lakh in the 2024 IPL auction to be held at the Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai on 19th December 2023.

Controversy
In June 2023, he faced a lot of criticism after posting a story on Instagram about the Shahbad dairy murder case. This case involved a 16-year-old girl named Sakshi who was brutally attacked by the accused Sahil Khan. Sakshi was stabbed more than 20 times and then beaten with a cement slab, killing her instantly. People on the internet criticized Yash Dayal for spreading negativity and animosity in the society.
However, Yash Dayal eventually removed the story from his Instagram and posted an apology on social media.
